How much tar does this have compared to Sgt knots?

Just enough to coat the twine, it’s still very very pliable. Not stiff it’s easy to tie knots and manipulate.

What is the diameter of #36?

It is thin like a twine, just significantly stronger than the regular white nylon twine sold at the big box stores. It is much thinner than paracord, but almost as strong. I believe that it is rated to 350 pounds breaking strength. It is small and light enough that I keep a one pound roll in my bag at all times and I use it for everything.

Has anyone tried using this in a sewing machine? Like a heavy duty Cobra leather sewing machine?

I have only used a sewing awl. It done well with that.
