A Great Little Scale
This Smart Weigh DS 100 is a fabulous little scale. The manufacturer put a lot of thought into its design and function. It is battery operated, and has two weighing platforms. It measures in grams (g), kilograms (kg), fluid ounces (fl. oz), ounces (oz), and pounds (lbs). The larger platform weighs from 1g to 10 kg; the smaller platform weighs from .01 g to 300 g. Each platform has a tare function, meaning that you can zero out your empty container so that you can just weigh its contents. The platforms are stainless steel and easy to clean. It is very light in weight, but it does not feel cheap. If you want you can operate both platforms at once. A winner!

HEAVY DUTY UNIT
When this product arrives, don't be surprised at how much it weighs, itself. A lot of thinking and engineering went into it, so it has a lot ofheavy duty components incorporated inside. The pictures I shared show how the "Full Function" works. You can see a 100g weight on the small scale and then a 200g Tare weight (included). While both sides have something placed press the full button to view the weight of both scales. The small scale has a max load of 300gs, while the large scale has a max load of 10Kgs! You can weigh in units of grams, Kilograms,Milliliters, Fluid Oz., Ounces, and Pounds: Oz:. I really like the quality magnetic box that it comes in. In fact I keep mine in the box during use for maximum ease of storage. So far it has turned out to be a Great Unit with practically pinpoint accuracy. I am very pleased with the investment. 3 months down the road and still functioning like the first day. I will continue to update as time moves along. Just a little tip that may correct everyone's problems. So I did some research and found that in close proximity, cell phones, and magnets can disrupt the reading and/or ruin Digital Scales. Just as a safety measure (even though its not a huge field) I removed the magnets at the front of the holding box. Its possible that over time, these magnets cause the disrupted readings. Almost a year and still workin great!

For those interested in calibrating
Update: 11/18/2017 The company replaced the scale and the replacement's readings have been more accurate and consistent. It's within a gram give or take when repeatedly placing a 5kg weight. Two things to keep in mind about this and other 2 in one scales is make sure your container/ items don't crossover to the smaller platform. And be aware that since it's a one piece unit when measuring something on the small platform, if a heavy item is placed on the larger one at the same time you will notice an increase of .01 grams on the value of the smaller scale item. I have left what I previously wrote before as reference. As others have posted the smaller scale is great and comes with a calibration weight and to clear up confusion to calibrate the larger scale you do need two 5kg weights. The calibration process first asks for 5kg and then 10kg. I only purchased one 5kg but hoped the factory calibration would be ok...but the Amazon delivery courier threw the package so I don't know if the factory calibration or the scale itself is compromised. I checked the weight when first turning it on and the small scale with the included 200g weight read 203g. I calibrated it and it's consistent reading 200 so thumbs up there. When I placed the 5kg weight on the large scale it read 5010g so I figured I'll calibrate it... after it asked for 5000g, to my surprise it then asked for 10000g. I canceled out and weighs the 5kg several times to get the average, it was around 5008g. I then used a 10 pound camera weight and a roughly a pound of rice to make up the other 5kg. I should have used the smaller scale to fine tune the weight, but hind sight is 20/20. I was able to finish the calibration process, The 200g weight reads 200g, the 5kg weight ranges between 4999-5002, when I put all the items to get 10000kg it read 6 grams over. I'm going to purchase a second weight to do it properly. Maybe if the courier didn't chuck the package factory calibration would have been ok but I won't know, I just hope it can retain.

Awesome versatile tool.
I love having the option to weigh heavy stuff on the left balance or to get more precision with small measurements on the right balance. It came with a calibration standard weight. I haven't had to calibrate it yet. Every time I check, it's dead-on. Changing units between lbs, oz, grams, etc, on the fly is easy. It's simple to use, and responds quickly. Because it's thin and sturdy, I can store it easily on its side, vertically, against the inside of the cupboard, without using much space at all. It seems fairly sturdy and resistant to spills. There are special procedures for calibration, etc, in the instructions, so hang on to those!

Almost made it to 6 months...
I have had this scale since December 20, 2024 and absolutely loved it. Worked perfectly for my needs. Instead of having to use two different scales I could use one to get my lightweight measurements and the heavier stuff. It was pretty accurate compared to other scales I've had. But in the last 2 weeks the 2nd scale started fluctuating for no b reason as you can see in the video. It does that even when there is nothing on it. I tried recalibrating it. I tried the troubleshooting from the seller but nothing worked. Which is unfortunate since that part of the scale was the most important to me. If it wasn't for this issue I would have given this scale a 5 star. May e I got a dud but wanted people to know about this issue so they can make an informed decision when purchasing. Now I have to find a new scale.

Seems perfect
Just received this today and at first go around it seems perfect and I'm excited to start using it. Loved that it came with a calibration weight. I used the weight on my old scale and sometimes it was right on and other times completely off. I used it on this scale and it was right on with the large scale and would vary between 200.01g, 200.02g, and 200.03grams. I tried calibrating the small one several times but only got it to say exactly 200.00g one time. However, because I am only using this for personal use - ie cooking and baking and occasionally weighing out packages - I am just fine having it off by tenths of a gram. This may bother someone who needs extreme precision, but then you may just want to get a professional scale. Also, I read a lot of reviews for a lot of the other scales sold here on Amazon before I choose this one, and many of the rechargeable scales seemed to stop working after a short lifespan. So I appreciate it that this one uses batteries. I personally only use my own rechargeable batteries now and didn't want something like a rechargeable scale being thrown away due to that extra feature no longer working.

Its nice, but I think I got a used one...
It seems to work alright. The scale comes with a 200g weight; according to the precise scale, it is actually 199.87g and 200g to the larger one, but that's fine to me. Honestly do not see a time that I will need to be so exact that I need 0.1g much less 0.01g, however at least I have the option now. "It would have been perfect if I used .03g more salt..." yeah ok. Tare function seems to be auto adjusting: I was making taquitos (rolled tacos). I place a bowl on the scale, add the meat mixture then dump it on tortilla, place the bowl back on the scale, then roll the taquito. What I noticed is that even though there was a small amount of meat left in the bowl which became more after time, the scale seemed to be re-zeroing out when I placed the bowl back on the scale. On my other scale, eventually, the bowl would become 1g, 2g, etc until i needed to tare it again. Problem is, I don't know if this is a feature or the scale is busted... again, we're talking grams and cooking, so does it really matter? idk. At any rate, since it looks like it was used but sold as new, this product looses 2 stars right off the top for me, no matter how well it works. I do intend to update and add more pictures at some point in the future... but beware, you might get a used one sold as new.

best kitchen scale ever
I researched many kitchen scales before buying this one. It will hold any size bowl and still be readable. The tare feature is a must to get accurate readings w/o doing the math. It has 2 scales oon one platform which allows me to weigh gross weights up to 11 lbs while simultaneously weighing very small amounts for any additional ingredient the recipe requires. I have not replaced the battery in 2 years. It's slim so easy to store and is attractive in my modern kitchen.
