Used foam cutter for 40+ min, now it won't cut and wire is red & soft — looks like it's melting. What do I do?

Our cutter’s operating temperature range must be under 150℃. Preheat 5-10 secs for best temp. Let it rest after 30 mins of use. Otherwise, the wire may turn red and soft, looking like it's melting and won't work.

Died during the first use

I used my friend’s wire cutter for days and decided to buy one. Now I’m sorry I chose this brand. It died during the first use. The plastic of the handle of the 17cm cutting pen melted. When it got cool it stopped working for good. I wish they could just send me a new long wire pen. I really need one.

It sort of works

I need it to make props for the theatre, so I'm cutting a lot of foam. Maybe I'm impatient, but sometimes it's easier to cut foam with a bread knife, although that doesn't work for fine detail work.
