Q: Are the gold cords a heavier weight than the blue?

All my cords are blue so I have no idea if the gold ones are heavier. ??

No, they only fit the addi brand needles.

Q: Can you connect the cords together to get a longer cord? I need a 36" sometimes, can I connect the 16" with the 20"?

there is a connector in the set - and so you can use it to combine any of the cord lengths - please know that the cords are not 16" - they are called `16 because they are used to make a 16 inch circular when they are attached to the tips - that said, you can combine any cords to get the length closest towhat you need.

Addi color codes their cords to show where they were sold. Red cords are sold in Europe, and blue ones in the US. That's the only difference in the color.
