Surprisingly Good
I'm not going to lie: I didn't buy this knife because I needed a knife, I bought it because I needed to make an order up to the free shipping threshold, so this £1.70 knife saved me £2.79. I could have thrown it straight in the bin without ever opening it, and I would have got my money's worth. However, having opened it, I'm fairly impressed. While weight isn't really a reliable measure of quality, it is fairly hefty. It's a full-tang construction, which should help with durability. I've seen worse fitting and finish on knives that cost more than 10 times as much. The blade seemed to have been decently sharpened in the factory (again, something I haven't always been able to say about knives that cost more than 10 times as much), but the edge was fairly burred, which probably explains the massive discrepancy in sharpness you see between many of the reviews. A quick deburring with a carbide sharpener later I was cutting a slightly overripe tomato into thin slices. I don't know about long-term edge-holding ability, but for £1.70 I can't complain, and I'll know exactly which knife to grab from the drawer for those tasks where you don't want to risk ruining a more expensive knife.

Even for the price, don’t bother
Bought it because it had to know how bad a sub £2 knife would be. And I was not disappointed on the lack of quality I expected. That said, it’s seems well built. But is very unbalanced, a significant burr from the basic sharpening grind at the factory, would need significant sharpening, but the effort might be in vain for the unknown steel hardness. Left in the kitchen draw at work for cake day, that’s about all it’s probably good for.
