My 8 year old wanted a cotton candy maker for Christmas, that's all she cared about - well, I always get nervous buying something when I see negative reviews in the mix, but I though "what the heck, lets try it". Let me tell you, I couldn't be happier with this purchase! This machine works BEAUTIFULLY! It's not that noisy (as others mentioned) I've had industrial sized machines, they ALL make some sort of noise, that's just par for the course - but compared to other cotton candy machines of this size, this one is actually quieter than most. Another gripe I see people making is that it doesn't work well or "takes too long" - you have to read the instructions, it clearly states you HAVE to let it heat up for 5 minutes first, this makes ALL the difference in the world! (Just like industrial machines, it's got to get up to the heat level - like preheating your oven before cooking) and if you turn off the machine for a couple minutes to restock your supplies, let it preheat again for another 2-4 minutes. It produced the fluffiest, prettiest cotton candy and it was absolutely easy to roll onto the cones. The trick there is to not stick the cone into the machine to gather the cotton candy, lay it parallel to the top of the machine on the SIDE of the opening (not over the heating element or it will melt the candy on the cone) and just twirl, it gathers BEAUTIFULLY and quickly! Also a HUGE selling point for me is the ease of cleaning! I thought it would be difficult as melted sugar solidifies when cooled and it will collect, all over, the inside of the heating unit and plastic collection rim - but it was actually VERY VERY easy to clean! A huge plus for the adults lol The heating center comes out by pulling it up (after it's cooled of course!) and everything comes clean with a rinse or light wiping with a sponge and hot water! Simple! I LOVE that you can use flossing sugar, regular sugar: we dye & flavor our own with food coloring & extract, then let it "dry" for a little while. Even used it when it was still a little moist with NO problems! We made orange, lemon, root beer, and rum flavored ones (for the adults lol) using regular extracts you buy in the stores! AND it takes hard candies! We didn't have any sugar on Christmas morning, thanks to our Christmas coffee lol so we used the candy canes off the tree - some of the best cotton candy I've ever had! So far we have used: candy canes, peppermints, jolly ranchers, butterscotches, and hard root beer candies, and they've all worked perfectly! (You can't use anything tacky or gummy like taffy, gummy bears, starbursts etc obviously) Also love that you can use the sugar free candies as we have a few ppl with dietary restrictions in the family - so sugar free cotton candy it is for them, and it comes out perfectly & cant tell the difference in taste! Sorry for the long review but I'm just EXTREMELY happy with this purchase and product! It does come with a handful of cones (although I prefer the bigger ones since the cotton candy doesn't really stick to the skinny ones that well) and doesn't come with any flossing sugar, but the price is worth just the machine alone and since you can use anything you already have, or just buy a cheap bag of $2 candies - totally worth it! Thank you for bringing smiles to all 3 of my kids faces (as well as the adults) this will definitely be in rotation on a regular basis and will DEFINTELY be used for their birthday parties! No more store bought cotton candy with questionable additives that doesn't taste that great to begin with. The way my kids eat cotton candy, it paid for itself already! 😂

This is a wonderful machine for a good price. I am so pleased with my purchase. We have used this for 5 days straight for a couple of hours each time and it is still going strong. We used it for a few hours at my daughter's 5th birthday party with no problems. We use the Gold Medal brand Flossugar and with this machine, it makes DELICIOUS cotton candy, just like at the fair. Better than the pre-packaged cotton candy. One scoop makes a fair amount. Not too small and not too big. However, I pour in 2 scoops of flossugar per round and it worked just the same. It didn't overheat, did not overflow, did not get jammed. I made real big ones, so I did 2 or 3 rounds of 2 scoops per round per cone of cotton candy. The pics and video I posted are of the ones I made using 2 scoops and 2 or 3 rounds. And the super big one was a lot of rounds. No problem with the machine at all! It spits out a lot of floss. Even if I only put one scoop in there, it still makes a fair amount of cotton candy fluff. It was a big hit at the birthday party. When it first starts off, it is quiet. But after a while, it gets loud. The noise doesn't bother me. It's a great machine and good for the price. The sticks the product comes with aren't good. You won't be able to stick cotton candy on them. I purchased the cotton candy stick cones separate. It took me about 3 tries to figure out the best way to make the cotton candy. DONT stick your cone inside the machine and twirl it around while it's making floss. You won't get a lot (if any) that way. Instead, wait for a fair amount of floss to be produced by the machine and then put your cone ON TOP of the machine and twirl the cone. The floss will stick to the cone. Move your cone around and continue to twirl and you'll get a nice round stick (and plenty of) of cotton candy. ***Take a look at my video of me making the cotton candy and also my pictures to get a better idea *** It's also very important to let the machine heat up for 10 minutes every single time you take it out to use it. I personally let it heat for 12-13 minutes. Be patient and wait the full 10+ so minutes for it to warm up. Otherwise, it will hardly produce any cotton candy floss and in the end, it's going to take longer to make one if it isn't heated properly. Once you get started actually making the cotton candy, the machine isn't slow. It's not super duper fast like with the super expensive and big commercial machine at the fair, but it's not slow either. It spits out the floss pretty fast once the sugarfloss melts, and that itself (the sugar melting into floss) takes only a few minutes, I would say less than 3-5 minutes. I found that the longer I use it, when making multiple cones one after the other, the machine melts the sugar much faster and much more efficiently. I want to add, when the machine appears it isn't making cotton candy anymore, BUT you see sugar stuck to the sides of the applicator, turn the machine off. I use a wooden chopstick and scrape the floss that is stuck to the sides of the floss applicator where you pour the floss in. Let the sugar you scraped off fall back into the applicator. Note: you are NOT removing the sugar stuck on there, but simply scraping it to let it fall back into the applicator. It doesn't do this all the time but it does happen from time to time. Takes 5 seconds to scrape off the sugar left on the sides. Not a big deal. After I scrape off , I turned it on again and the machine INSTANTLY makes the remaining cotton candy from the remaining sugarflos. Once none of the sugar was left inside the applicator, that's when I refilled it. *** See my video and photos to get a better idea of why I rated this product 5 STARS *** EDIT: I have been using this daily for 2 weeks now. Still makes great cotton candy but it is very loud. Just wanted to mention that in case anyone is bothered by loud machines. However, it still makes delicious cotton candy and at a reasonable time. I don’t need to wait forever for it to start making the threads.

This thing was an absolute hit for my kids birthday party. We paired it with some good ole dye free sugar and it made it absolutely perfect. Setup took 30 seconds, heat up was a couple minutes and we made 6 or 7 big bushels of cotton candy in less than 10 minutes. This thing is top notch fun for the kids, but it was more fun was watching the adults go even crazier for it. Seems like it is going to hold up well, as long as you keep up with the cleaning. For the price point, in my opinion you can’t beat some good ole fashion fun and a throwback to childhood. Great value, and I’ll be using this for years to come hopefully.

I must admit one thing before starting to talk about this product. I did buy this at 3 AM on impulse because I saw HopeScope talking about it. However, unlike most other impulse purchases I make, I do not regret this one. While it is sort of an investment to make for candy, it is cool and fun to be able to make your own cotton candy at home. It was one of the cheapest ones I saw, too. It isn't too confusing to use and comes with all of the necessary pieces. As someone who has never made cotton candy before this, I can confidently say that I learned this in 5 minutes. A couple of things to remember, though, is that 1. It does not come with any sugar. 2. You will want to do this outside because the sugar will fly through the air. 3. When making cotton candy with this, start by spinning it with the stick vertically, then switch to horizontal when you get a good base. 4. The cotton candy may not stick too well to the provided straws. The easiest way to clean this (in my opinion) is to spray water on it and then turn it on, making it spin and heat the water while doing so. It will melt down any other sugar so that you can then just rinse it off. This cotton candy machine is pretty good.

This cotton candy machine worked very well! Really easy to use and worked right away. We even tried jolly ranchers in it and had no issues. It’s also really easy to clean. The bowel twists off and the metal piece pops off as well and you can clean that out and wipe the rest with a damp cloth. It’s not as noisy as a previous one we tried, but still rattles the bowl a bit and makes a little noise. The video makes it seem louder than it was, but we could talk at a normal volume and still hear each other over it. My daughter loves it. Definitely worth it.

This was so fun at my niece’s birthday party! It was so much fun, she commandeered it for over a month and found additional supplies. It was suppose to become a family tradition, but now it seems it is her tradition. I appreciate the short cord and polarized plug. It is intended to be used on a stable surface, not with a long cord to trip over. We used cotton candy sugar, regular sugar, mints and sugar free hard candy. The sugar free hand candy has a different texture for me but was quite pleasant. We washed the bowl and it was easy to attach, as was the rim. After preheating for 5 minutes, we used the scoop to measure the sugar, waited for the floss to form then spun the “stick” around. My favorite was a butterscotch and cinnamon; my husband likes a coffee and chocolate candy. My advice is to not overfill the cup and do not let it cool off before wiping it clean. If the extractor head gets clogged, let it soak for a couple hours in warm, soapy water. If the unit is smoking when it is heating up, it means there was residual sugar and it was not properly cleaned. The manual suggests spraying the extractor head 3-4 times when you are done, but the head is still spinning and hot (but empty). I’m a kitchen gadget junkie, limited only by my storage space. It’s a novelty but a quality machine that makes an ordinary gathering extraordinary.

Two sides to this story. It works, it does a good job and it's not that big. It's easy to clean, and it's easy to use. I use this machine in my kitchen, on the counter. It doesn't smell when it heats up, it does not get hot (other than the metal thingy that spins the cotton). It doesn't create a lot of draft so it's actually nice. I have no prior experience with Cotton Candy making, but this I noticed. I wear a Fitbit to count my steps and track my heart rate. Every time I make Cotton Candy, I do so for about an hour or a little more, in my kitchen. My Fitbit reports my heart rate to reach 120+ and I'm just standing there by the Cotton Candy machine. My heart rate runs this high the entire duration of the candy making process. Looking at both the heat element and the metal thingy that spins above it, I see two things. The element looks like a large filament, like an incandescent light bulb, and it looks fine, I suppose. The metal thingy that spins, seems to have a black paint on it that bubbled over after the first use (like goose bumps), the density of the metal thingy makes me think it is cast aluminum alloy, because it's not ultra light light pure aluminum, but it's not heavy like cast iron. The screen that is wrapped around the metal thingy (what creates the threads for the Cotton Candy), is shiny, appears to be stainless steel, but it could be plated metal (holding up fine). My suspicion is when the metal thingy heats up (or maybe it's just the heat element itself), fumes are being generated while you make your Cotton Candy and these fumes are making my heart rate more than double as though I was running up a flight of stairs. However, I do not feel exhausted! I never would have noticed my heart rate had it not been for wearing a Fitbit. Maybe anyone out there can see for themselves how this affects them, either wearing a Fitbit or Apple watch or the like. Maybe it's the caramelized sugar that creates the fumes? I don't think so. I believe that the hot metal or paint in this candy maker is creating fumes that are colorless and tasteless. Use this candy maker in a well-ventilated area. I gave it 3 stars average, so that 5 stars for the process and usefulness of this machine, but a 1 star for no warning anywhere in the owners manual on needing to vent the area while making Cotton Candy, this may be a health concern.

Update, after 1 week, the last pic, (pinkish colored), is the result of 3 Dum-dums, 1 yellow, 1pinkish 1orangish -(I used pliers to broke off sticks) I'm absolutely amazed by how easily it became cotton candy, and with the 3 distinct flavors found in Dum dums blended together! As to the sugar around the rim of the bowl - I had been saving it for decorating unicorn treats, but discovered even that becomes cotton candy if I break it up and let it respin! The perfect size treat (2.5xs larger than Dum dum result) requires 2 spoons of floss sugar - which my machine easily handles at one time. Hope this helps anyone decide if this is the best machine for them! I have NO regrets on my purchase, LOL, I've already used 1/2 the carton (3.25lbs) of blue mix! Only thing cob- my fire alarm is extremely sensitive & goes off if I'm not paying attention! This isn't a product I would've bought before I was asked if I would be Babushka to a 6yr old from Russia (missing hers 2.5yrs living in States). Never had this much fun with my 6 grands - she's enchanted by everything, it's what are we going to make today?! She was the best thing to happen in my life in a long time - so yes I'm going to make her my favorite treat! This was 1 thing I wanted to be sure I could do & how to b4 showing her, so today was my 1st trials - I'm on batch 3! Only problem out the gate - scoop wasn't in the box - but least important, I found one that looked comparable while it do did 10min warm up req'd for sugar floss, in my fav flavor of course - I have yet to grow up though I hit 1/2 Century long ago. I was surprised at how quiet it is, until sugar is added, then it gets a bit noisy - not like a freight train, but like its having to work harder maybe - which stops as soon as all is spun. I have a learning curve in this, I have a messed up rotator cuff they can't repair so the motion required is a bit tricky at the moment. but I'll learn, which will cut down on the time! My 1st scoop went great, the 2nd began b4 I had my stick in hand, so sugar accumulated around the rim - BUT it came off in 4" narrow strips, giving me free decorations for the unicorn cupcakes she's wanting to make - win-win! I'll update only if required. So far so good.
