This is a great way to compost your food scraps: quickly, easily, and odorlessly. I put mine next to the kitchen back door. So convenient to just throw my food scraps in there after preparing food or eating a meal. The worms reproduce quickly and turn the compost into wonderful castings rather fast. I would recommend also having a paper shredder to shred a bunch of newspaper to add into the bins as well. The manufacturer recommends having a 50/50 ratio of "greens" to "browns." Adding shredded paper as a "brown" helps keep the moisture balance inside; it would get too moist if all you added was food scraps. I bought the 1 pound bag of red wigglers to start my composter. They are hard working little guys. However, I think they are too small to use for fishing purposes. Easy fix; just go to your local bait shop and buy a bunch of nightcrawlers and add them too. They like living in the composter just fine, and they get along with the other worms. Nightcrawlers don't compost as quickly, so I think the red wigglers are good to have to keep breaking down your compost as a good rate. It also makes a great on-going science project for your kids. They like looking in the worms from time-to-time. The worm castings it produces is GREAT for the garden. I did have a brief issue with fruit flies on my composter. I just added more shredded paper, and covered the layer of compost with a pretty thick layer of non-shredded, moist sheet paper. That seemed to block the flies from getting in to the compost. Overall, a great little unit that is easy to use and doesn't take up very much floor space.

If you like to compost give this a try. There are also great prices to buy worms on amazon so you can get everything you need. They are clean and work well. The construction is quality and if you follow the instructions you will get some great soil.

Though this is a tidy unit, did not include 38 page info booklet. I bought two of these for 4th grade classroom instruction, and have spent a lot of time searching the web for info. The website does have info available, though I was looking forward to the info being included in the shipment.

This was so easy to set up and the booklet that explains the whole process is very good. My worms came last night and I put them in their new home this morning. I just pray they will stay alive during the heat wave we are having at the moment! But I'm very excited to get this going. Thank you!

Arrived quickly and intact, instructions were easy to follow, over all it was great. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because the base needs to be more sturdy, stronger in order to hold more weight.
