No, 65 ft of rope will not reach. I and my husband could barely reach the roof of our one story house but only after we took out one of the 3 loops of the hoist. Working with only 2 of the 3 loops took away a lot of the mechanical advantage of the hoist and made a lift of a 5 gal. roof paint pale hard and a bit dangerous. To make it work you would have to replace the rope with a length more than 6 times the height you need to lift. (3 loops X 2 lengths up+down X height of building) plus extra rope to reach hanging support above roof line. We used a big tree limb that reached above the roof.

Q: How hard would it be to pull up a deer feeder at 500lb?

The rope is very slick so anything over 200 lbs would be very difficult

Q: how big are the hooks on this block and tackle? Would they fit in a 1" eye bolt?

I don't have a 1 inch eye bolt so I found two key rings. The hook fit easily over the one that was a 1 inch interior diameter. It barely fit (rubbed but got to the bottom of the curve) for the ring that was 3/4 inch.
