Is there any way to use the water leak sensor without buying an hub? I have Amazon Echo, would that work?

We will release a YoLink Siren soon which can connect multiple YoLink water leak sensors and other YoLink safety devices, with long distance coverage and alarm even without network connection; 3. Because of the long coverage distance of YoLink products, even if there is sound in the sensors, we still can't hear it, Alerting user's Smart Phone is more important. What's more, our YoLink Siren is even more comprehensive. 4. Reduce its own sound function, which can be waterproof and lower power consumption. The battery life of YoLink Water Leak Sensor can last for more than 5 years.

can I use to turned a switched off if it detects a tank reached a level of water?

You will need a yolink outlet or a yolink wifi togle switch ( depending on the device you are wanting it to turn off ) to link the water sensor together. Then set an "if" scenario and you should be good to go.

why is there such a stark difference in battery life between water sensor 1 vs 2? version 1 is up to 5 years while version 2 only up to 2 years

Water Leak Sensor 2 has a sounder. You can optionally turn off the sounder, but since that draws current from the batteries, it is factored into the battery calculations we used. We tend to lean towards the more worse-case scenario (more frequent use, with sounder enabled) but your experience with it will vary and it could very well be closer to 4 years than 2. This unit is very tiny and works great. It is pretty sensitive to water. It is easy to use, just pare it up with your YoLink hub and set it where you want water to be detected. It can be pared directly to a water shut-off device from YoLink if you are using it that way. We placed ours on our boat to alert us if the bilge pump fails for some reason. Our neighbor's boat sunk recently during a storm while docked because their pump failed. We don't want this to happen to us. It is a good security investment value for our piece of mind.

I didn't know what to expect, but I heard this product was good. It arrived quickly, was REALLY easy to install and connect with the mobile app. Works perfectly. I have 5 installed in my condo and another 4 installed in my country cottage. You can view their functions by house, location, etc. Highly recommended. Try to wait for a sale, since they are kind of pricey, but they are certainly good.

I have a lot of Yolink items and they work perfectly. Great to monitor water leaks for my water heater, washing machine, water pressure tank and even inside my sump pit. I installed it inside (within an abs cap) right over where the pump is located. So, if it detects water, so I have still time to fix it before any damages.
