New GCSE English Text Guide - Great Expectations includes Online Edition and Quizzes

A good book.

This book was so helpful in revising for my English GCSE. Great Expectations is so long and quite difficult to get through and this book really helped me understand it better and single out important moments and quotes to revise.

The book itself, cover wise, is very smooth and professional looking. The detail on the front cover is easily recognisable as Miss Havisham's Satis house from the novel itself. The whole book contains information on; The introduction to Great Expectations, The Background and Context that go alongside the novel, Discussion of each chapter of the novel (for those who do not particularly understand the novel or who don't want to read it in the simplest case), Character profiles of each character in the plot and how they ink together, Themes within the novel, The writers techniques used within the novel, and lastly Exam Advice. Alongside all the information on the novel (above), throughout there are practice questions that could possible come up in exams. I really recommend this book for anyone who is sitting their GCSE's soon or A-Levels if the novel is used as the novel itself is quite interesting and has a lot of subjects to talk about when analysing the form, structure and language of a particular extract alongside the whole novel. CGP being a very funny and pun included series of books on any subjects, this book contains a comic strip on the back double pages; another resource for those who need help understanding the novel :) The reason it has 4 stars is because the overall look of the book is dull (just like the novel, some might say) and does not particularly appeal to the eye. It is generally helpful though; it is specified for the new 9-1 levels brought into English Literature and other subjects so it is a really useful resource for year 10-11 (or any year that has started doing their GCSE's).

I bought this learning guide for my daughter for her GCSE work. Delivery was incredibly fast - thank you! It provides a well laid out guide for teenagers who are reluctant to get on with revision and has helped her with her exams. Would highly recommend!
