Beautiful attachment, great functionality. This is superior to the KitchenAid C-hook from what I've seen so far, which is admittedly only making tortilla dough, but I just got this yesterday. What I make the most is potato bread, a decidedly stickier dough, and I will update this if the spiral hook does any less than awesome on that. Was really impressed with the hook's action though, which pushed the dough into the bottom of the mixing bowl rather than flinging it all around the sides. Seemed much more efficient. No dough crept up the hook, and there was nothing to scrape down the sides. The bowl came out almost perfectly clean. The polished stainless looks great, and matches the new attachment hub cover I got for my KA. Planning to get the matching pastry paddle.

This thing is great! Solid stainless steel, kneads my dough well. Much better than the “C” hook that came with my Kitchenaid. I bake *a lot* of bread and this has helped up my game a bit! For those of you wondering if this is truly stainless steel, I can confirm that is almost certainly is. Their video states that it is machined from a single block of stainless steel. I also messaged the seller and they confirmed it is solid stainless steel without any coating. I did some tests myself. It is weakly attracted to a strong magnet, which indicates most likely that it is stainless steel, and likely something like 304 stainless. This item is 276g vs the 143g of the included polyester coated die cast aluminum hook. This is about 1.9x the weight of the included hook. 304 stainless is roughly 3x the density of aluminum. Assuming a portion of the volume of the original hook is the plastic, this doesn't seem too far off. I tried scratching it with steel wool, but I did not see any other metal underneath. It did scratch which would be normal for this type of stainless steel. I also used Barkeeper's Friend which did not result in any discoloration. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it did come with a minor single pit that had some discoloration. I'm guessing during the manufacturing or shipping process some salt or other contaminant got on the item and causes the issue. I was able to clean it off with Barkeeper's Friend, revealing shiny metal underneath, so I suggest the same if you encounter this issue. Ideally though I'd hope the seller can improve quality control. The low scoring reviews for this item indicating significant discoloration probably saw the same issue but on a larger scale. This does not mean that the metal is coated or isn't stainless as stainless steel will pit and discolor (just try cooking acidic foods in a stainless steel pot and sometimes you will get pitting). Overall, I'm pretty satisfied as the product is much cheaper than the official KitchenAid stainless steel replacement. To be honest, KitchenAid should have included this already with their mixers instead of the mediocre plastic coated attachments.

I love this thing! It actually kneads the dough (and does it quickly) rather than just spin it around like the C hook style that came with my mixer. It fit my mixer perfectly, but be aware that there are several different versions of this hook as Kitchen Aid mixers vary from model to model. Make sure you order the right one for your model of mixer. It’s heavy and made of quality stainless steel. Not all stainless steels are magnetic—it depends on the amount of nickel and chromium in the alloy, so don’t be bothered by negative reviews about that. It works so well at kneading that you have to be careful that you don’t overload the mixer. I have a KSM90 which is under powered for this. I tried to make a double recipe of pizza dough and the mixer bogged down and had a hard time. I just finished a single loaf recipe and it had no issues at all. I highly recommend this if you bake and struggle with using a C hook.

Far superior to the KitchenAid C dough hook that came with a 25-30+ year old Professional 6. I was shocked at how much this improves the dough kneading experience. No dough up creep! I just finished a 1.4kg / 3lbs+ batch of pizza dough and the new dough hook was amazing compared to the original. See my video for some live kneading mixing on level 2 for the pro 6 / pro 600. The stainless steal quality seems to be very good and the smooth finish made the hook just pull clean from my dough when I was done. I have been making this pizza dough a lot and this is the first time I tried the mixer because I knew the old C hook was going to be more trouble than it was worth. I wasn't disappointed. You will spend a few bucks for this dough hook but in my opinion it is a good value for the money. It has a nice weight in the hand and seems that it will last a lifetime with it's durability.
