Excellent machine for most users.
Update 12 July 2022:Still got the laptop and still very pleased with it 2 months on. The processor is lightning fast coping with multitasking and staying cool even through the current heat wave, AMD-powered machines will be my favourite choice now on.Also worth mentioning is the WiFi and Bluetooth connection stability, I have not had any problems at all with either, never lost connection or had any speed issues, it's running as expected.I suspect that it was an old Windows update that caused the problem for other owners that left reviews reporting the problems with WiFi few months ago, this is now resolved and there are nothing to fault this laptop.--------------When I saw this at the current price of £479.99 (Bought in May 2022), I jumped on the opportunity as I needed to replace an ageing laptop that was starting to show signs of unreliability, and I’m glad I did. It’s ultra lightweight and very sleek, the casing is attractive with mainly plain panels and smooth edges. It can be a magnet for greasy fingerprints but it’s easily cleaned. The last 2 machines I had were powered by Intel Core i5, so this is my first AMD machine in a few years now, and I must admit that I am really impressed with how this Ryzen 5 is performing, it’s definitely far more superior than the i5 in terms of multi-tasking, it’s also much better when playing higher definition videos, it stays relatively cool and with minimal noise from the cooling fan.I was a bit worried that 8GB RAM won’t be enough, and almost ordered a 32GB upgrade kit before I even got the laptop, but decided to wait, and I’m glad I did, the machine runs just fine with the 8GB installed, there’s no need for any upgrade if you’re an average user. The machine handles most daily tasks with ease (I’m not a gamer however, mainly using RobotStudio, LiberOffice or emailing), and battery life is far more superior than I thought, I can easily get 6 hours screen on time, with occasional video playback, before it needs connecting to a charger. The OLED screen is beautiful, the colours are true and brightness is amazing. I average 6 hours’ use some days and dare I say that it’s one of the most comfortable screens to look at, my eyes never feel strained or struggled, it’s just a bliss to use and an excellent panel for video playback. There’s a couple of useless ASUS software installed, and a few of Microsoft’s own, but these are easy to disable/uninstall so it shouldn’t be a problem.I’ve read a few reviews reporting WiFi dropping randomly and not connecting back, I can confirm that the machine I’m using has had steady WiFi connection on at least 4 different networks so far, no problems with connectivity or speed. There’s also been a few complaints about the keyboard light, if you’re struggling to switch it on, just take a look at the F7 button, you will be pleasantly surprised. The only minor criticism I have is regarding the expansion slots, there is space for an SSD to be added, but you will require a Flexible SATA cable to hook it to the motherboard, I couldn’t find anyone selling the original and didn’t want to risk using cheap rubbish as some reviews said theirs melted in 2 minutes. So I contacted ASUS who happily supplied me with a part numbers (Cable Part number: 04022-00010000, Rubber cushions: 13NB0QZ0L27011), but said that ASUS UK does not supply accessories/spare parts.Searching for those part numbers, it was only available via suppliers based in the continent, and would’ve charged double the price for shipping, a scam I was not willing to fall for. So I took my chances and ordered the cable from e-bay for just under £6.50 (Item number 373705997171), and it works great with an SSD.If you’re looking for a laptop and doing your research, then this machine is definitely worth considering, and if it’s still selling for £479.99 (Or less), then this is probably the best machine you can buy for under £500.

Super value
I got this because of the screen is oled and the keyboard is white on black with back light .I ordered a silver version of this laptop but had terrible trouble reading the keys , my eye sight isn’t that great anymore so I returned it .I then saw this oled version with black and white back lite keyboard and now I can see everything much better .The oled screen is so much better for me , the contrast and brightness is excellent, this really is a nice every day computer.Although It is made of plastic material , it looks good and feels very sturdy and In all it is fast , nice looking and works well for my needs .The price is also very competitive for an oled screen and decent processor . Im pleased with it so far .

Good screen, good performance, OK keyboard, iffy mouse, below-average battery life.
Title sums it up! The OLED screen is, basically, extremely good, with excellent contrast and sharpness. Unfortunately it drops a star because ASUS's colour profile for it is dodgy & causes eye-wateringly oversaturated colours as well as image artifacts in YT videos at anything other than 4k res. The solution is to turn on HDR in windows, which overrides the colour profile, but means you're not using the panel to it's full potential. As a laptop it is fast & responsive & even good for light gaming, which is impressive for a "general purpose" machine. The metalized plastic case is attractive, slim & light but prone to scuffing. The speakers are a bit weedy, but aren't all laptops? The mic is surprisingly good though. The illuminated keyboard is a bit cramped, but the feel is good. The keypad's not great though, periodically lagging or not responding. It seems very sensitive to dirt, so it needs constant wiping with a cloth. Biggest fault though is battery life, barely 4hrs life from full charge doing little more than browsing the Web & dealing with emails. This is surprising for a modern 7nm machine with an OLED.UPDATE: The artifacting in streamed-video, when using the Asus's colour profile, is caused when you switch HDR off. To cure the problem, you'll need to re-boot your laptop.

Great screen and good value
Bought this for my 73 year old husband to replace his 10 year old Dell.Just excellent in all ways.Brilliant, bright and clear OLED screen. Great keyboard .. and it's illuminated.Slim, lightweight and easy to use.No downsides so far.Unless things go downhill in future, I would highly recommend this laptop ... bearing in mind myself and my husband are enthusiastic amateurs as far as laptop pros and cons are. But so far I would buy this again .. no regrets so far.

Fantastic laptop - dispaly is brilliant
Bought this to replace an old HP laptop. and was amazed at both the speed (no HDD) and fantastic display (OLED).I had never owned an ASUS laptop before but this has everything I need for home computing incl a backlit keyboard.I had been looking for 1TB memory (same as my old one) but this was only available with 512GB however the price/specification combination, at the time, was compelling. I solve the problem by keeping a buch of old files/movies etc on a separate driveAll in all one of the best laptops I have ever bought

Great Laptop
Second year in a row when i had to return two laptops with good reviews, but in reality they ware bad quality laptops. I had looking for a good laptop for a while and after couples of weeks of searching i have decided to buy this laptop which turns to be a very good laptop, the image is absolutely brilliant , performs really well, response time is very good, i m really pleased with the choose i made. Very good value for what i paid. Recommend 100%. Very good purchase.

Love this laptop
I had an old i7 hp laptop that I used for years, but it was finally getting to old, so I grabbed this, really impressed, screen is great, have pushed it pretty hard using a DAW and it takes it well. For general use it's great, nice and light and with a full keyboard. Only issue I d have is it does not charge on the type c port.
