A great improvement to my sound
I have been using a Yamaha 6C since I started playing the saxophone, it has been 4 years, and now I decided to upgrade my mouthpiece to a more profissional one, and my teacher talked about Claude Lakey. I decided to give it a go, and I am so happy I did! I always felt a lot of resistance with the Yamaha, like I couldn't blow more air, or something...It would never give me the sound I was hoping for...with this mouthpiece I feel like I can finally make my instrument sing Lol..I got a 4*3 and it's perfect for me, I am a small woman. The sound is vibrant and the high notes are much more precise and beautiful. The only down to this mouthpiece are the low notes, but I think it take some time to get use to the embouchure for them. Bottom line, I loved it and it really improved the quality of my sound!

Claude Lakey 5*3 alto saxophone mouthpiece
The Claude Lakey 5*3 is an exceptional jazz mouthpiece. It's tone quality is bright (but not too bright), and it has tremendous projection. The tip opening is .080". I would highly recommend it for the intermediate- advanced player.

Awesome, awesome mouthpiece. I was hesitant to buy this piece online because of the risk of receiving a dud. But the facing is accurate and the sidewalls, tip, and table are impeccably done. This mouthpiece sings and even screams when you need it. These lakeys have a reputation for being loud, bright, mouthpieces and that’s very true. But I also achieve a warmth and husky sub tone that I’ve fallen in love with. When you really push your air you can get a focused and bright sound that’s perfect for smooth jazz, funk, modern jazz, and rock. But the true beauty of this piece is its versatility. I bought the 4*3* and it’s truly awesome. Free blowing and responsive. At this price I’m amazed, it easily competes with high priced pieces. I did have trouble finding a reed though. Right now I’m with Rico plasticovers in 2.5 and the combo is rockin’. In a concert ensemble you’d be in trouble, but for the fun stuff look no further. Only reason I give four stars is because I’m not sure whether I should have received the compass ligature with it. Others say they had and I did not. That aside I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone!

Good sound; extra pads
Good even sound for me. Bright enough, and resonant.

Claude Lakey CLA713 Saxophone Mouthpiece 7*3
This mouthpiece is raucous! If I played rock 'n roll I would use it every day. But I am a Lee Konitz, Paul Desmond guy, and it's totally unusable for such music. Nonetheless, I can't resist blowing it from time to time when I am in a don't-give-a-damn mood. It makes me want to play with Chicago.

Quality control failing
The mouthpiece I received was very good. BUT there is a new series of this mouthpiece that is TERRIBLE. No finishing, cheapest Chinaware, only pressed plastic. Be careful if on the photo the rails and the baffle are not cut - then you are going to waste your money.

confidence a powerful ally
i play a selmer six my mother bought me 47 yrs ago. i double on a pro yamaha soprano. i was playing a dukoff 8 but although i liked the sound it was hard to play. i had the claude lakey mp original and one day stuck it on my tenor and loved it. so i have bought the same mp for soprano. it has opened the door to that horn for me. bottom is solid and reliable. mids sweet and highs easier. confidence is a powerful ally and so is this mp.
