Tough coating
Good wire with a very tough insulating coating. It’s not enamel, but some sort of polyurethane, I think. I’m using it to wind ferrite core baluns and I find that it takes some effort to get through the insulation so it can be soldered. Solder dipping didn’t work; the only effective method using common shop tools was scraping with a razor blade.I ordered a specialized Knipex “coated wire stripping tweezers” from Amazon that arrived today. It does a decent job, but it takes several passes, rotating the tool a bit before each pass.

this is a great magnet wire, I like the quality, and no, mine did not arrive with a broken spool. I'd love it if they sold 2-pound packages though.

Works great for rewinding
Worked great for rewinding a motorcycle stator. Enamel doesn't come off easily so it's really robust and I didn't have to worry about shorts.
