GREAT Pillow
Very brief. I am a minimalist who likes tech things. This pillow doesn't really have any features related to the latter, but for minimalism, this rocks. I currently own one pillow, this one! (I may get a buckwheat japanse pillow) but that's all I need and don't want to own anymore! It's washable, compact, comfortable, transportable. I use it as main sleeping pillow. Some people use this thing only for hiking or some rubbish but I use it all the time. I can't stand cotton pillows. Not certain what this is made out of (fabric-wise) but it is comprehensive feels like cushiony styrofoam to touch (that sounds unpleasant, but it's not). There's not too much one can rave about a frickin' pillow but this is great. Orange color option might have been nice. It's my only pillow. (I Love that simplicity, too!) This was like an investment! And a good one!Got from moosejaw with some owner or manager who wrote something on the delivery (that it had been packaged by whomever name was). Anyway it's useable anywhere, I got medium and perfect size. Infinite uses. Not cheap, not hoakey luxurious. You may be able to guess that I loathe hoakey luxurious useless things (like pillow sheet ruffles and random rubbish). NO more crummy cotton pillows, no more pillow sheets, no more bloody time into the idiotic device that is the "pillow sheet!" (jeepers, some of the stupidest scam products). This thing is great. I envision myself having a buckwheat pillow (as backup luxury) and/or just this thing for many many years and being extremely complete in the pillow department.I don't really care that much at all about "cushions" but this is my one and only pillow at present, I like that simplicity, and this is fantastic.I'm just vexed I wasted so many years of my life on cotton generic pillows I loathed.Compressed, you could easily fit this thing in a bread bag and have plenty of space at the time (not that anyone would do that, but just compressed size visualization).ProsGood CushionHigh-Tech CompressibleSelf-contained (no other random parts)WashableSimple (no stupid pillow covers/sheets)DurableConsMore color selection?? But then again I don't like too much color selection. This is an apex-productivity item. Awesome. Dang this is too ridiculously long for a bloody pillow!

Great camping pillow
Compact when stored, but large enough for any human head to be comfortable when unrolled. I went on a 23 day camping trip, and I found that it felt lumpy on only a few days. After unrolling it, just pat it for 5 seconds, let it inflate naturally for 15 seconds, and it should be mostly lump-free. I still think my head was a little too low when using the pillow on a sleeping mat, so I put the pillow on an incline by placing it on my backpack so my head was comfortable. It wasn't the perfect pillow position, but since we were roughing it, I didn't complain about first world problems like "one pillow is too low, two pillows is too high."I also used this pillow in the car, either on my lap to make my arms more comfortable or to sleep. Since there were no headrests in the car, I cannot say whether this pillow is good for sleeping in the car or not, but I think it is adequate.Overall, this pillow is worth getting due to its portability and cost.

Great camping pillow!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I'm pretty picky about my regular pillows (I don't like too firm or too soft), this one is perfect. I ordered the "Large" pillow and while it's still much smaller than a queen size bed pillow, it's perfect size for camping or even laying around on the couch. The pillow arrived "compressed". I like that it can compress without additional stuff-sack or compression straps. You just roll the pillow up from the one end, and stuff it into the little lip you see about 1/3 of the way down on the other side. There is a drawstring on the side also to keep it taught. It's light and compresses to about 1/3 to 1/4 of the full size. When un-compressing it, be sure to let it sit for about 5 minutes for the foam inside it to expand. Then give it a few fluffs. When I first unrolled it I thought, this is going to be crap, but then I let it sit for a 5 minutes and it really puffed up nicely and maintained its size and consistency well. It feels like it has chopped up pieces of egg crate foam inside. I haven't slept an entire night on it yet, but have used it for several hours on the couch watching tv. It's much more comfortable than the couch pillows we have. One side has a 'felt-like' finish and the other an almost cotton/satin finish. So you really don't need a pillow case, but I think I may bring a pillow case when I take it camping for that 'just-like-home' feel. The large size wouldn't be good for backpacking because even compressed it's still a bit bulky if you already have a lot of gear in your pack... but it is light enough. I highly recommend this one if you are looking to save space without sacrificing much comfort. Would be great for a car or plane as well.I haven't tried any other compressible pillows, but for what it is, I can't imagine they could be made much better than this.

Above Average
I generally bring a fluffy down throw pillow on car camping trips but I knew that I needed something more compact for travel and backpacking since space is limited and weight is a serious consideration. I purchased the denim color in medium which is a decent size. It packs small and it is light weight, the cover is soft and it only takes a few minutes to get it loft. It was comfy compared to most camp pillows on the market in the same price range. The easy care is a plus but as a particularly picky sleeper, I would just pay more for the Nemo luxury pillow which my husband purchased at REI on sale with 20% off on top of it for a decent price. The Thermarest pillow is sufficient for regular users especially backpackers. Amazon's price is fair too. I will keep it for travels on planes and such as it does hold up well.
