Arrived healthy and good size
Arrived quickly, healthy and alive. Ordered in early spring I believe. They did well for quite awhile, then I got overwhelmed with only beetles and no worms producing despite separation. Probably my error, but I eventually gave up raising them.

Update - mix of supers and mealies.
Edit: I was super excited about this order and starting my mealworm farm. Well, it turns out about 60% of what I got were supers. Not sure why they pupated fairly quickly as I was not separating as you should for supers. Nearly all of the beetles emerged without wings and died a day or two later. I now have 4-5 Morio beetles and crap ton of dead beetles. If you are looking just for feeders, this might be a decent supplier. If you are looking to start a mealworm farm, don't waste your time with this vendor. I'm super disappointed in the money and time I put into a bunch of dead beetles.Started birding this summer, on a whim at the pet store I bought some mealworms. I kept a few and dumped the rest in my platform feeders. I figured them would eat up bird waste, the frass would fall right through - and every once in a while a bird would find one. I decided to give the birds a treat and see what they thought. I grabbed a shot glass and tossed in the few I set aside. When my 2 daily wrens came to visit they went wild. I did a little research and most of my birds that visit at least like if not love mealworms. No way I'm going back to the pet store, this is a job for amazon... found a bunch of sellers some good reviews, some awful. I didn't know what to expect, so I ordered from two sellers. This is more USPS than the seller, but the other shipper is 4 states away and this came across the country at least 1 day before the others. There were a few deads, prob no more than 50 out of an order of 2100 - the other seller had a higher price for only 1000. Most exciting is my reason for ordering this quantity was to start a small farm. Well, when I dumped the bag out to sort - there was a TON of molting cast-offs - these guys had been busy on their 4-day journey. However, the treasure was finding 9 pupua - 1 looks like it *might* have went in the bad that way. The other 8 had obviously JUST changed. Actually I was working (from home), when the package arrived so I had a little time to dump everything in the container I was using until I got off work and sort out any deads. First look I found 3, 1 a little darker, and one still had exoskeleton from molting still on it. It still had some hop to it. I didn't notice the rest until later and they were bright white, so I wouldn't be surprised if they fed and pupated. The best thing I like about this order is the age mix of the worms. From some tiny ones probably 2-3 weeks old up to some giant ones. This will sustain letting some pupate and feeding a lot to the birds over the next few weeks. My ONLY question to the seller, do you use cleaner bugs? I just happened on another sellers website last night that mentioned they use them and are harmless and beneficial because they eat dead worms and molted skin. Well I have 1 black beetle looking worm, probably about half the size of a pupua - and he sure moves FAST. I kept him for now as he is paying no mind to my meal worms, is this a cleaner bug or just a stray that hitched a ride and I need to get rid of.

Tasty
They were smaller than I expected, but very healthy. Packed in a cloth bag so be ready to transfer them to a container. I wonder why amazon asked about the flavor and scent. I did not taste them, but my box turtle did not complain.

Great looking worms
I received these worms and they were all alive and doing well. I would order worms from this seller again if I needed it.

Mixed results on different deliveries.
Update:2nd time purchasing, the first time we were very happy as you can see from my first review so we ordered again. We were so busy building our chicken coop I had no time to do much for the mealworms after our first purchase; I left them in the bag for over a month in a closet with a cut up sweet potato inside and they never got stinky (besides the typical mealworm smell which all mealworms have regardless of where you buy them...not a nice smell but not terrible.) we received our 2nd delivery yesterday (identical item purchased both times) and I was home when it was delivered. It was clearly marked as Live Animal and I brought it inside immediately and put it in the closet. Today when the chickens were free ranging I decided to give them a treat and went to open up bag for the first time and planned on putting the mealworms in a tub with grains and sweet potato.. unfortunately they smell so terrible I could barely touch them. They were on the table in our backyard after I realized how putrid they were (I didn’t want them indoors due to the smell) and my husband actually asked me to move then away from him while he was painting because the smell was so unbearable and revolting. It smells like rot and death. It does appear that many of the worms are dead and yucky at the bottom of the bag but due to the overwhelming smell I don’t even want to handle the bag to get a better look. I understand that shipping live worms is probably difficult and something could have happened in the mail outside of the sellers control and don’t want to fault them for that since the first batch was wonderful. But I do not feel comfortable feeding them to my chickens or keeping these worms in my home or even garage since they stink SO bad. I am not exaggerating the smell, either. I’m a registered nurse and deal with pee/poop/throw up smells constantly, this smell is beyond what even I can handle and I don’t know if my chickens would even eat them. I messaged the seller and hopefully they’ll send a new batch or refund me. I would order again if this issue is resolved since they are priced well and last time were great.Initial review: Well priced, shipped quickly, packaged well. At Petco or Petsmart it’s approximately $12 or more for 1,000 mealworms but I’ve paid more than that many times. My chickens can easily go through a few 100 mealworms a week if I’ll let them. They try to sneak them now after they figured out where they’re kept. Sneaky girls. I’ve been meaning to breed the darkling beetles so I don’t have to continue buying mealworms but haven’t set that up yet so really can’t speak to how these mealworms work for that purpose. I don’t see why they won’t work and ordered another batch for that purpose specifically and hopefully will be successful so I don’t have to keep buying them. The mealworms are packaged in a fabric bag that’s within a cardboard box which is marked live insect, temperature sensitive on it. I’ve been really busy working and building a new chicken coop and haven’t had time to deal with the mealworms so I’ve just left them in the bag they were sent in and I threw in some oats and a sliced sweet potato and have left them at room temperature. I normally keep them in the refrigerator but have paid very little attention to these ones (literally none of them have died despite my neglect.) I would definitely recommend these for chickens or lizards or hamsters (our last hamster loved meal worms.) and hopefully they’ll also work well to breed darkling beetles.
