I love this book😭🫶🏻
I loved that this book was 1) clean 2) cute 3) it showed both the ugly and beautifully tangled sides of different types of relationships. I love this book.

Wonderfully Quirky Characters
I love a good story with believably quirky characters-- and "Float" has a few of them. I enjoyed the read. The timeline didn't always add up but it was an entertaining read and had me giggling out loud sometimes and tearing up others. Also a pretty clean read; minus a bit of language and a few scenes with teens drinking

Great story, well written, a fun read!
This is a good bedtime book for anyone of teen and older ages. The author has a very readable style. It’s a fun night time friend. I highly recommend it.

Loved everything about this
It made me laugh so hard, Waverlys innermonologue and banter is hilarious. I love her connection with the people she meets and the friendships she makes. I definitely recommend this book. It was refreshing and wonderful and relatable to my once teenage self.

A new favorite happy book!
(4.5⭐️) FLOAT is an absolute dream of a book! Kate Marchant wrote a story that I will reread as a comfort read because it brought me so much joy. I was crying through the last few chapters of the book. Waverly’s story is not perfect - nor is her friend’s - but I think that is why I liked it so much. It’s a story of a found family of friends, summer romance, and figuring out where you belong, all on the hot beaches of Florida.First off, Kate Marchant names her characters so well: Waverly, Blake, Alissa, Lena, and Jesse. It felt like a movie, which is probably a good thing it will be a movie! Heyyy, Andrea Bang and Robbie Amell!Friendship in books is crucial to me. I like when people support each other, and the group of friends in this book is top-notch. I could read more stories about this group of friends and be so happy.Waverly goes on a really incredible journey and is honest about her flaws. I like that. She’s not afraid to admit she isn’t perfect and not living up to the cookie-cutter standards that a high schooler should be. I think it’s great to read that.I also think it was great to read Alissa’s journey. When Marchant could have easily vilified her journey, she chose to make her a bigger person, which I think women aren’t always given that grace. My only frustration with the book is Waverly’s choice to go surfing when she can barely tread water. I was a competitive swimmer/lifeguard/taught swim lessons in high school. I can’t see putting yourself or others in danger like that, so that plot point frustrated me even though Blake was endearing. As a lifeguard himself, he should have stopped it. But, besides that, the not being able to swim plot was magnificent. I loved the chemistry that it built between Waverly and Blake.I could feel the summer sun when I read this book, or maybe it was just me smiling so much because I was happy reading it. Pick it up to feel the sun on your face, too!Content Warnings: drowning, familial deathFollow me on instagram: @niftyreads

A charming escape
Float is a charming story about a seventeen-year-old girl from Alaska spending her summer completely out of her element in Florida. Awkward and always mediocre-at-best, Waverly feels like a disappointment to her divorced parents, and wants to stay out of their way (and finally spend a summer NOT in the Arctic). She wants to reinvent herself, make friends, and have some "typical" teenage experiences. Waverly eventually realizes that she doesn't need to reinvent herself, she just gets to know herself better and becomes a more confident, stronger version of the person she already is.I really enjoyed all of the characters, especially her friends the Fletcher twins. There are several characters who Waverly initially judges, and then finds out they have a very different story from what she assumed. I liked the plot because although it was a bit predictable, there were still surprises in how things unfolded. The story was amusing and kept me entertained. If you are looking for an engulfing summery escape and enjoy teen/ya books, I would definitely recommend this one!

Easy, fun vacation read
I enjoyed this book so much I immediately went to see about getting my own copy of it. It is the kind of book I would read again when I was in the mood for a fun, laid back vacation read. I liked the characters. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but, I loved the cover and it was one of the reasons I wanted to read it. I hope Kate Marchant writes more books. This was an easy, happy read. I enjoy books that are a fun escape and that I can't wait to pick up and keep reading when I have some downtime. This book was that for me.

No Plot
I really wanted to like this book because the idea of the plot is great. However, the book follows no real plot and there is too much drama to understand what’s going on. The timeline also sometimes doesn’t line up and I ended up not finishing it.
