Corelle Livingware Winter Frost White 20 Ounce Pasta Bowl (Set of 8)

My bowls came today... I ordered 6 bowla and 8 bowls came but one of the 8 was broken so I won't be sending them back. The box was pretty banged up and torn in a couple of places but I am fine with it...I've been using Correlle dinnerware for 45 years and still love it.

I've long liked Corelle, and though it is now made by a different manufacturer, I'm glad Corning came up with it. These particular bowls are just what I'd been looking for, and they aren't part of the standard dinner service. They are perfect for pasta, of course, but also will work for soup or a hefty salad. The lip of the bowl is high enough to keep things from slipping onto the table, and allow penne (for example) to slip neatly onto your fork, but low enough that you don't feel like you're excavating.

When looking at the picture, keep in mind these were dishes being used daily thru 3 generations. Handwashing and dishwasher washing. They hold up better than anything thru constant use. I purposely preferred my Corelle over putting out the China for most dinners. Over the years, a few have been dropped on the tile kitchen floors. On the wood based floor, they didn’t break, but hitting just at the right angle did break even my most sturdy dinner sets. Since the “pasta bowls” is a favorite, I was down to two. I always bought my bowls in plain white for versatility. They match very well with the two bowls from my old set.

Light, but sturdy. We are pretty hard on our dishes. The old pottery type were all chipped up in a matter of weeks. These? I've dropped them so many times, I can't even tell you how many, but they're great. Haven't broken a single one yet. These are great for side salads, pasta, or cereal, if you're like me and you're weird about your milk/cereal distribution. :D

The media could not be loaded. This is NOT the pasta bowl I expected. I read the reviews, but I did not know that the pasta bowl and the salad bowl have the same WIDTHS. The pasta bowl that I had hoped this was, has a distinctive lip and holds more because the dish drops vertically from the lip. The bowl I wanted, therefore, is the perfect size for pasta, while this one is not, though the width is exactly the same.I am keeping the dishes because they stack well and are Corelle!!, but I will continue to look for the deeper dish.The one on top is my "pasta" dish.
