“Go”Vee
I have to preface this review with I am a “Smart-home” wifi app controlled junkie. What I have indeed learned along my journey is not all Smart-home products do that, and in some cases can be more work than one that isn’t, a lot of that has to do with the demand and rushing of products out the door for the $ ignoring or bypassing the technology that’s available at the time…. And being that it changes rather rapidly it’s a don’t miss the boat game. I have learned to not jump at items for the cost. Sure it would be nice if things you want are cheaper but in the end longevity, quality, and reliability should be your goal. Now I don’t want to knock on wood or curse myself but I started with GOVEE in search of some air purifiers for my home, impressed with the quality, the ease of setup, so far reliable usage of the GOVEE home app I moved right on to all other available products and while much of them are in my cart and out of my price range right now, I’ll wait until money is good and purchase… so I have moved on to the wifi/Bluetooth LED Light strips, this one the 32’ which are 2 16 footers run off a single power pack one remote through one wire to a short Y splitter before it connects to the lights, so keep in mind as is and with no modifications there will be only one foot between the two strips…. Which is important to know if you are not going to modify them and simply want plug and play and further separation or even two independently controlled 16’ strips. I plan on modifying mine prior to installing to provide more separation between the two for my setup of this section of lighting. The picture only shows you them fresh out the box and already linked and controlled by the GOVEE home app. That leads me to my second recommendation, which is DO NOT pull them out of the box, go through all the trouble of installing them or any similar product without first ensuring it works properly via the stand alone remote and the App only to find out they don’t work… yes, I’ve done that before. The instructions, simple as they are, are adequate. I did see they recommend using a hair dryer to warm the tape if your ambient temperature is below a certain range, DO NOT skip that part (plus proper cleaning of surface) as that goes for any product you are applying to any surface via adhesive… a TIP… you don’t really need the hair dryer for this step, simply leave the lights rolled up and them to their brightest setting for a bit and that will heat the entire strips adhesive and accomplish the same thing. I did read and see reviews of bad LEDs or strips going bad in certain sections etc. and now I do not want to discount these reviewers but I also take these with a grain of salt knowing how mostly all LED strip lights in this category from every brand use the same tried and true methods…. Unfortunately what you have to know if you’re not familiar with these types of light is the wiring and contacts that piece all of these together are in some cases hair thin and it does not take much for anyone of us experienced or not to apply the wrong pressure at any of these points wether intentionally or by mistake so it is very IMPORTANT to install these lights with absolute finesse, take your time and be careful not to bend any of the joints at awkward angles, don’t let it fall out of your hands and bounce off the floor… because truth be told it doesn’t take much to make any of these joints super weak, and subsequently simple expansion and contraction From the heating up and cooling down from the lights turning on and off is all it takes to make a weak joint give, or short. I don’t want to assume that’s what happened with these particular users experiences but in all actuality it probably did. The bright side is if you are gentle during installation, and successful you will have lights that will more than likely operate for years to come. And in defense of these users No manufacturer as well is immune to defects in its products. So far I’m batting 1000, and I have a total of 29 of their products, a few on the way, and not one crash or error with the app. So overall I am absolutely pleased with the quality of GOVEE’s products and their GOVEE HOME app. I do look forward to owning all of their products and I hope they’re currently working on many more! I haven’t had to use the customer service at all so I have no comment on that… but I can only assume that’s a good thing ! I’ll update this review once installation of this first set is done with more pics as well any encounters along the way. Until then I do want to at least say to GOVEE, thanks for for the awesome products, I’m truly enjoying them ! And to any of you that read this, have any questions about these lights or any of the other products and I happen to have them I’ll be more than glad to help walk you through it… good luck, and don’t hesitate to buy these lights or many of their other products available!

Quality, Longevity
Been using these for 3 years now. By far one of my best purchases. They've moved with me multiple times, long lasting adhesive. Still as bright as they were fresh out the box. Work with every smart home device I've owned.

Absolutely Blown Away! The Best Smart Strip Lights I've Ever Owned!
I don't usually write reviews, but the Govee Smart RGB LED Strip Lights have completely transformed my space—I'm genuinely impressed! If you're looking for an affordable, high-quality, and feature-rich strip light system, stop scrolling and buy these right now. Seamless Setup and Reliable WiFi The setup process was incredibly fast and painless. I had the entire 16.4ft strip up and running under my cabinets (the adhesive is surprisingly strong!) and connected to my home Wi-Fi in less than 10 minutes. Unlike other smart lights I've tried, these have maintained a rock-solid connection—no frustrating drop-outs or lag. The voice control through Alexa/Google Home is immediate and flawless. Unbeatable Color and Customization The RGB colors are vibrant, rich, and perfectly saturated. I love that they don't look washed out, even at full brightness. The Govee Home App is where the magic truly happens. It's intuitive and packed with features. The selection of pre-set scenes is fantastic, but the DIY color wheel and the ability to customize your own patterns is what makes these lights stand out. Whether I want a cozy warm white for a movie or a pulsing party light for game night, these strips deliver. Music Sync is a Game-Changer My absolute favorite feature is the Music Sync mode. The built-in microphone is highly sensitive and accurately picks up the rhythm and beat of the music, creating a mesmerizing and dynamic light show that genuinely feels like a professional setup. It instantly elevates the mood in the room and is a huge hit with guests. Bottom Line: The Govee Smart RGB LED Strip Lights are the perfect blend of performance, features, and value. They are bright, customizable, reliable, and just plain fun. I wholeheartedly give them 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home lighting!

Stuck LEDs?
UPDATE 7/7/20 - Since my last update, even more lights have become stuck, pretty much the entire length of the strip at similar intervals. However, Govee did contact me and quickly sent out a replacement. Since I have the original LED strip installed in a location that’s tough to get to I haven’t yet installed the replacement strip. However, I’m adding a star to my review because of Govee’s excellent customer service. - - - UPDATE 5/15/20 - In the day or two since I posted this review, another section of lights as gotten “stuck” on green, as can be seen in the photo. Anybody else have this problem??? - - - I bought these in September of 2019 and finally got around to using them a few weeks ago. I added them to the backside of my daughter's new platform bed, to serve as a sort of nightlight. This is my 2nd purchase of this style of LED strip lights, first of the Govee brand. Off the bat, the adhesive on the Govee brand is way better than the other. I installed the other brand on the back of my TV and even after thorough cleaning, the lights just peel right off once the ambient temperature from the TV starts to rise. I was worried these Govee lights would do the same because they slid around a bit during installation. Once you give them a firm press though, they are locked in and don't move. Setup was simple with the app, although I wish they used an easier identifier when selecting the lights during setup. You're supposed to choose your lights from a long tiled list, but the icons are too small to be of much use and the text are just the model numbers, which are all similar. Once selected though, connecting to my wifi network and adjusting the settings on the lights was very simple. I initially added the lights as a skill to our Echo Dots, to be used as part of a routine that automatically turns off and on the lights at a set time. It worked for a day but then became unresponsive to the whole Alexa environment. Turns out the lights just needed to be added to our wifi network again. Rather than adding back into the Alexa routine, I'm instead created a Scene in the Govee app that automatically turns the lights on and off, and it works fine. The reason I'm knocking off a couple stars is because as you can see in the photo, after only a couple weeks' use there appears to be LEDs "stuck" on green at a couple portions of the strip. I don't know if they're necessarily stuck at that color though, because if I change the lights to red or green, those sections of LEDs adjust accordingly. But my daughter insists on the light blue/cyan color despite the few off color LEDs so that's what we're going with. I find the off color LEDs way more annoying than she does, and I urged her to switch to a different color; but it is her room and good luck reasoning with a 6 year old. I like the strips, the price is decent when compared to other offerings. But I'm peeved at the stuck lights. They didn't arrive that way, they worked fine for the first week or so. They just seemed to get stuck at random, no rhyme or reason. Moving my daughter's bed to fidget with the lights will be a pain so I'll probably just live with it.

Great Smart Lights at a Great Price
Most of the lighting in my home are smart lights and the majority of those are by Philips Hue, which have become more and more pricey in the past several years. For this reason, I started trying other products in hopes of finding less expensive alternatives and discovered Govee as the ONLY brand that comes close to Hue in reliability and quality. Best of all, their prices are always a fraction of Hue's costs for comparable products. I wanted strip lights for the floor perimeter of a room I recently updated and bought Govee's smart light strips at a price of $32 for 32-feet, a stark comparison to Philips Hue's lights that run $60 for 10-feet! ($1 per foot vs. $6 per foot?...this was NOT a tough choice to make, lol). Even after having to move furniture around to place the lights, it took less than 30-minutes for installation, integration in my Govee and Amazon accounts, and linking with an existing Govee floor as a lighting "zone" to enable simultaneous control of both lights. The sole downside to Govee's smart strip lights is that they cannot be paired with remotes or switches of other Govee products, something Hue products are able to do. This isn't a huge deal since Govee lighting zones controllable (powering on/off; updating lighting scenes with options saved in the Govee app) can be done via Alexa voice commands. Also, while Philips Hue products are ALL Alexa compatible smart devices, some of Govee's lower/lowest priced products are not. For example, Govee's 32-feet of light strips for $29 can only be managed using the provided controller or the Govee app (e.g., not Alexa or Google Home compatible). If you're like me and enjoy the nerdy convenience of using voice commands to control your lights, it's worth spending the extra $4 for this version. I highly recommend these smart strip lights and many other Govee products.

Quality Strip Lights that fit my requirements
My situation: I wanted lights to replace the stock lights under my sofa which were way to bright and to illuminate the start of my tv stand diorama. These LED strip lights fit the bill and were close to the length I needed. Length of use thus far is 2 weeks with consistent on/off usage. I purchased two individual 16.4ft lights. The boxes are small and come with a basic 3 button wired remote (I do not use because I use the Android app with Google Home, I only used for initial testing out of the box), the DC brick, the spool of lights with durable 3M tape attached, an Isopropyl Alcohol cleaning pad, some small mounting hardware which I did not use and some paperwork and instructions. I specifically chose the 12V version over the 24V because I have short runs and I did not want/need bright or accurate color lights. Also, my couch has a built in suitable 12V power supply I will soon be using once I purchase a male to male DC adapter. Installation is easy and straight forward. Plug the 4 Pin connector from the light strip to the wired remote, connect the DC power connectors, plug DC brick into wall, turn on. The lights turned on as expected and the remote changed basic settings. I left the lights on as I installed. This helps me see where I am putting the lights and more important, heats the 3M tape up a little. I did NOT prepare any of my surfaces as they were for the most part clean. Installs in dusty or dirty environments will want to use the supplied Isopropyl Alcohol pad to clean the path the lights will be attached to. I changed my install path a few times, meaning I attached the strip and then pulled it off. Only in one place on my sofa, did the 3M tape NOT stick well the second. In this place, nothing but glue would work. I even attached the strip to felt fabric on the underside of my sofa, unstuck it and reattached it successfully. I did NOT experience any broken connections. I was somewhat gentle knowing it could break but peeling the strip off does create some stress. I have zero bad LEDs. Brightness and color is exactly what I want. I can dim it and change colors. I like the app for Android, despite the ads for their products. In the app search for the Model found on the box or the Amazon product details and follow the steps. This light connects via Bluetooth initially. It connects to Bluetooth first upon initial setup so it can connect the light to your WiFi easier (this process eliminates the need to connect to a device in the devices WiFi Settings and then connect back to your own WiFi). It does take a few seconds to connect to the device, but that is like a lot of other Govee products. It does connect successfully all the time in my experience. I like that all my Govee devices are in one app and are all, even these lights, Google compliant. My network is a combined 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. There were no issues finding or connecting to my network. There really is no need for this device to have 5Ghz in my opinion. NOTE: No Govee Products are Samsung Smart Things compliant. This is NOT an issue because they do not claim to be. However, there are technical work arounds I found, but have not used. It did take me a few moments to figure out how to group the lights together in the Govee app. I did not read any instructions, nor did I look for any. I fumbled through the app and found it on the bottom of the Home tab. Not difficult, but for me, not entirely logical. Once setup though, the light group is found and used as a single light in Google. The bad side of using a group in the Govee app is that it is only Bluetooth. The individual lights are controlled by WiFi, but not the group. Google does not care about the Bluetooth for the group and will control the brightness and on/off via WiFi. There is a fun option in the phone app to set the color according to how you feel. It is in the Color Wheel selection. The app gives a list of feelings and an associated color. In my experience, the selection of colors correspond well to the feeling displayed. One item I dislike greatly is the poor programing of permissions in the app (on Android 13). I restrict a great deal of access on my phone (and yet I use IoT hahahaha). In the Group or individual device, selecting Camera Color Recognition, it requests to use the Camera (obviously). However, if I deny access or try to touch out of the screen, I am set into an endless loop of request/deny or it gets to a screen that forces me into the phone settings to allow access. All the other apps I have used, if I deny access, they tell me the feature is not available because I denied access. There are not repeated attempts to set the access. To exit, I have to close the app. The easy work around for this is either to set the permission or not use it. I do not use it. Using the mic option in the phone app is, for me, a gimmick. It is not accurate with any combination of bass or treble. It is close, and to be honest, I would not expect professional level accuracy. I use a Galaxy S20+ 5G for the mic. Party is highly inaccurate and Calm is the most accurate. Using the mic on the wired remote is more accurate depending on how far way from the sound source it is. The individual light strips do NOT sync when in the group. They will use their own light pattern and turn on/off according to each lights mic. I do not use any of the timer options, or the schedule for these lights. I do use it for other Govee light bulbs. It is a separate tab not accessible through the device itself. I thought that odd. However, once setup, it works. I also use this process along with Google Automations. I would buy again.

Govee has always been a go to.
I always have trusted Govee with LED string lights. These work exactly how I wanted them to. I used these particular ones in my garage as a replacement for the lights in there. This allows me to set a time on them to come on and turn off at certain times. This also allows me to use Google Home to automate with a simple command. My only thing that I wish was that they were a little brighter, this is a small thing but with the distance between the LEDs, it is understandable. I higher priced model would probably give a smaller distance between the LEDs. Very easy to install, as they are simple adhesive already attached to the lights. They are hanging from the ceiling and have no issues or worry of them falling.

Somewhat disappointed with overall quality and performance
Are these the worst LED strip lights you'll ever use? No, not by long shot. But they're not fantastic either. They're packaged well and the unboxing is straight forward. The box includes 1 VERY SMALL alcohol wipe to clean your surfaces before mounting (1 tiny wipe per LED strip). You absolutely need to do this step and the provided wipe wouldn't be enough to clean a small scrape on your finger, so you'll need to supplement with your own supply. The double sided tape on the back of these things is okay - JUST okay. I got two of the 16.4' strips and one was markedly more adhesive than the other. I had to add some small command strips in places to keep them on the wall. If your wall has any kind of texturing, this tape won't cut it. You'll need something with a little more heft. (I recommend a thin foam double sided tape or command strips so it will hold around the wall texture - again, which the supplied tape will NOT do much at all.) If you're going around corners or bends, there are some little mounting brackets included that are very helpful in holding the LED strip against the wall, but the included screws won't do jack in drywall, so you'll likely need your own dry wall screws as well. I did. Once mounted, the plugging in, powering up, and setting up for use on Wi-Fi was pretty easy. Their function here was definitely better than I expected. And good God are these strips bright! They put off a heck of a lot of light, even with the darker blues and reds. Thankfully the brightness is adjustable. I installed these in my teenager's room and they usually get used at night at around 5-10% of the full brightness. The integration with my Google Home setup was quick and easy and works as expected. You even get like 80% of the Govee app features natively within the Google Home app! Again, I was pretty impressed there. Here's where the majority of my disappointments set in. Firstly, you'll notice on the box that the LED strip pictured in the foreground features MULTIPLE COLORS on the same strip at the same time. Several of the other pictures in the product description also feature color gradients across the length(s) of LED strips. This is extremely misleading as that functionality is flat out not possible with these strips. This is NOT "pixel tape." The individual LEDs are not uniquely controllable. They will all be the same color at all times. If you select red from the app, all LEDs on the strip will be red. There is no way to make some red and some blue. The way these are pictured ON THE BOX and in at least two other places in the product information seems intentionally misleading. That's frustrating as it is one of the reasons why I choose this product over other alternatives. Additionally, within days of installing the LED strips, about 10 of the individual LEDs blue diode failed in different places around the room. Most of these were NOT on spots where the strip was bent or curved. In a total length of about 28', to have 10 LEDs fail within the first two weeks of operation is pretty abysmal. LEDs should be getting into the THOUSANDS of HOURS of use, not tens of minutes. That was incredibly disappointing. Could I send them back and ask for a refund? Probably. But then I'd have to rip the light strips off the wall - likely taking off paint with them - rebox them, wait for the seller to send me new ones, and then go through the miserable process of mounting them all over again. It's ultimately more work than it's worth. So are these awful? No. They do a lot really well. They're an affordable color changing LED strip that gets good and bright and offers some pretty great control features. But I'd be a lot happier if they promoted their product more honestly and spent a bit more time and effort on quality control. PROS: Surprisingly bright, easy to setup, control is intuitive, Google Home integration, affordable CONS: Spotty quality (10+ partially dead LEDs within 2 weeks of install), misleading packaging/marketing, provided cleaning and mounting supplies are poor, power cord is likely too short if installing strips at ceiling height
