Hundreds of old recipes
There have been many various printings and translations of this very well known turn of the century Italian cook book but this reprinted 1945 edition is an not a complete copy of the original and omits the author's recommendations and rich cultural comments of his times.This was revealed when I obtained a copy of "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well" which is a complete copy from 2003 with the actual title of the original. It also contains a great introduction by one of the editors Luigi Ballerini. This complete version is of course several times more costly but very worthy of the added expense and an Italian historical treasure.

Not very helpful.
After reading all the reviews on this book, I decided to give it try. Much to my chagrin, it was a disappointment. My wife is an excellent cook, who relishes new flavors and techniques. This does not meet those requirements. It's focus on old world cooking is outstanding, but lacks more traditional methods that people of today would utilize. It is a good quality, though shortened version of a classic publication. I reluctantly returned it.

No measurements. Start with a chicken....
A hardback version from my Library I had to wait a month for had measurements in it.Most of the knowledge is impractical, though it offers you great ideas on what goes with what else.Donating these to the same Library that had the better-for-me hard backed version....

Mayberry without the money and glitz.
A remarkable, vivid and touching recollection of an American coming of age in the Rock and Roll Age from a perspective different from, but so similar to, the author's contemporaries. Pure Americana!

This is outdated and over hyped. Not worth the money

Not what was listed
Product sent is not what was pictured or listed. It is a fourth edition rather than third and a grey cover rather than the iconic red. The edges and binding of the book were also slightly bent at the corners.A bit disappointed but since it was a birthday present I didnโt have the ability to return it and find another copy elsewhere.

Recipes from the First Italian Cookbook
I am using this English version to assist me in using the Italian Language version of the same book. So far it is working.

Really nice but adapted from an old cookbook
Really nice but adapted from an old cookbook, contains a lot of wisdom but sometimes a lack of info as well. Really recommend anyway, just have this in mind

Have an italian husband who craved this book . It was very interesting and good recepies too.I recommend buy it
