Our house has multiple locks and doors and it is very frustrating to carry multiple keys that all look similar. in the past, we have made copies and gotten certain design keys so we can distinguish between the keys but the problem with carrying multiple keys in your pocket or bag still remains.The Smart Key system is amazing. You can rekey the locks to minimize that amount of keys you need to carry. There is also a padlock with the Smart Key system that works similarly. It is VERY IMPORTANT to follow directions or watch videos on the rekey process BEFORE attempting to rekey on your own. Doing so without following the appropriate steps will mess up your locking mechanism and may require a special tool to fix it (not all locksmiths carry this tool).

It looks good and easy to install.

I like the key side that is flat. The lever side is quite large, in your face. Could have been smaller. Basically black finish. Bronze highlights are really not there.

This was my first time installing a deadbolt lock. This was the last and final lock to be changed and upgraded all the doors in my home. It was challenge since there was no instructions in the box….but it was intuitive so i got it done with the help of a second set of hands. There are multiple screws and hardware in the box to choose from depending on your door cut out specifications. The strike plate is 4 screw square type that did not work with my existing door slot so I had to purchase a 2 screw style strike plate at a hardware store. The existing strike plate i had on the old lock workd fine, but it was old and a different finish from the new lock.Tip: i replaced a round style lock with this square style and it was no issue. It fitted in the recess hole in the door. Only the inside piece goes through the hole in the locking mechanism, the external piece goes into the inside piece.Hope this helps a first-timer.

Originally purchased these for my home due to the easy rekeying feature which works very well and is extraordinarily easy to do. Being able to easily rekey all locks within seconds to use the same key without buying a more expensive set with more locks or paying a locksmith to do it is very nice. My only complaint about the original version is that the handle and deadbolt knobs have a bit of a sag to them which appears to be a common complaint. Otherwise, functionally, they're rock solid.For the updated model which this review is for, to an untrained professional such as myself, the inner components appear to be slightly better built, but that could be imagination just looking out for me by trying to convince me that my money was well spent. As for the sag issue I previously mentioned, well, it's no longer an issue with these. The door handle has no play in it and sits perfectly horizontal. The deadbolt knobs also have no play in them, either, and they sit perfectly horizontal when unlocked and vertical when locked. Granted, I didn't get out the level to verify my claims of perfection, but to my hands and naked 15/15 eyes, they look and feel great. And of course the rekey feature also still works just as well as it did on the prior model. Will definitely continue buying this line of entry lock.
