Original Olympus XZ-1 battery, Came Fully Charged
This is an original Olympus battery. It came fully charged (which happened to help me out). When I purchased the XZ-1 and saw the small battery, I figured it might be good to have a spare since the camera does not have a viewfinder and the 3" OLED screen is always on when the camera is in use.I got about 300 shots per charge making 600 writes to a 30MB/S Ultra San Disk SD card (high Res Jpegs and RAWs) with only two pics requiring flash (so basically no flash, which you will hardly ever need ...most-likely). So if you take only RAWs or only High Res JPegs, then you will get probably between 500 and 600 shots per full charge. That's decent performance. The battery came in a vinyl pouch so that the contacts don't get shorted out when transporting the extra battery. Very useful. This is definitely the original Olympus product. There is another cheaper battery out there and that one is not made by Olympus...it's made by Sterling Tek and it clearly states so:STK's Olympus LI-50B Battery - 1500mAh for Olympus XZ-1. I think there are some buyers who have posted a review to the wrong product. Anyhow, just something to be aware of.Note: I am certain it's an original product. However, they are not the same production run but they both have the same capacity of 925 mAh. The one that came with the XZ-1 is labeled in English and was made for the US market. The one that came from Amazon was sold by 'Franklin Cash Register Inc' according to my shipping receipt and was made for the Japanese market. The replacement battery I received was manufactured after the one supplied with my XZ-1 camera. Also, Olympus does not manufacture this battery. Both the original and the replacement are made by Sony Corporation.

So Far, So Good
I was willing to pay what I needed to to get dependable OEM Olympus batteries. Well, good luck cruising the Amazon sites and trying to figure that out. On reflection, I'm not sure if there even is an official, Olympus sourced, Olympus battery. Anyway, I ordered one battery each from a few different sellers. This one I got from "Brenda Deals". It doesn't look exactly like the picture, but it has the distinctive silver Olympus wrapper. It's made in China, but also says it's made by the Panasonic Corporation, which is good, I think. The specs are 3.7V=925mAh, which seems standard.Anyway, the battery arrived undamaged. It took a good charge. It fit the Olympus Stylus TG-870. The camera worked. I left the video recording on for 30 minutes, at the end of which the battery showed it still had 2/3 of its charge. I recorded two more 30 minute sessions, by which time the battery was "empty". It then took about three hours for the battery to fully recharge. Didn't ever overheat or leak. That all felt right to me, and it matched the performance of the battery that originally came with the camera, so I'm happy. Don't know yet how long it will continue to perform well. If it fails too soon, I'll edit this review.

Don't waste your money buying ' off ' brands of batteries for your Olympus camera.
The Olympus brand batteries last the longest and hold their charge the longest of any batteries I have tried for my Olynpus cameras. Don't wast your money on off brands for your camera as they wear out very quickly. I have had Olympus batteries last for well over a 2 years by having 2 and charging one while the other is being used; I use my camera almost daily for family and outdoor pictures. They do need to be charged more often as time goes on but not at an inconvient rate. I would not buy any other brand battery as I wasted my money using other brands.

A good factory battery
I always like having a spare battery for my cameras. This was no exception. I bought a new Olympus camera and wanted a spare battery for it. Here's the genuine factory battery at a good price - what could be better? I did notice this battery, as well as the one that came with the camera that's identical, seem to require seasoning. That is, they didn't reach their full power capacity until they'd been through a few charge / discharge cycles. At first I was not happy with taking only 125 shots (JPG only) and needing to charge the battery. Yesterday, I took 220 shots (JPG + RAW) and a short video and there was still plenty of charge.

works great in Olympus camera
I just bought a new Olympus camera on HSN and wanted to get a spare battery for longer trips. I had a bad experience previously (not from Amazon) in that the battery shipped to me was not made by the mfgr of the camera and it didn't work, so I was worried about this time getting another battery without the mfgr's name on it. This battery worked well and I have no problems with it.The battery was received promptly as always with Amazon delivery service. I feel comfortable that any problem Amazon will resolve fairly.Olympus LI-50B Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery for Select Olympus Digital Cameras (Retail Packaging)

Good Experience with OEM Battery
Last year my parents went to Europe for two months and took their Olympus camera. My mother asked me to purchase her a backup battery and I did so. It was not an OEM battery and was significantly cheaper. The cheap battery didn't work well at all and I felt terrible--It barely held a charge. This year my parents are off to Europe again and to make up for last years battery debacle, I purchased them an OEM Olympus battery. I just video chatted with them and can report this year I have made up for buying the cheap-o battery. My parents are having a great time and, because of their two working batteries, are on the way to filling up their 8 GB memory card :-\Save yourself the headache and buy an Olympus battery to begin with.
