THOR KITCHEN Pro-Style Gas Rangetop with 6 Sealed Burners 36 - Inch, Stainless Steel HRT3618U

We love this cook top! It's an absolute beast and looks fantastic. The heat-out put is crazy. I'm pretty sure I could smelt iron with this thing. You can crank up all the burners to high and they all put out full power without any sputtering ( though I don't recommend doing this as you may combust any surfaces within 6 ft - it gets HOT). We love how much space it has. You can fit six 12in pots on top - we didn't see any other 36in cooktops capable of this. It has nice clean lines with sturdy, industrial-feeling materials. There is NO plastic anywhere on this thing. It is all stainless steel, cast iron, brass, and porcelain-coated steel. It's made in the USA and the build quality is great. It seems quite serviceable - looks like everything can be accessed and replaced by removing some screws here or there. Our ONLY gripe is the color of the LEDs when the burners are on - blue doesn't seem "right" to me. Plus, the wife has decided all accessories in the kitchen must be red. So now I'm considering swapping out the blue LEDs for red ones. Given the apparent ease of access to the guts of this thing, I think it might actually be do-able. Overall, if you're looking at a Viking cooktop but aren't hung up on the name, I say give this one a shot and save a couple grand.

I did a full kitchen renovation that finished December 2017, I'm writing this review one year later on December 14th 2018. When looking at 36 inch ranges I came across this Thor unit. Initially I was very hesitant as there weren't many reviews at the time. Thor is essentially a Chinese version of the Viking series at a fraction of the cost. I had considered other brands like Samsung, but I didn't want the electronics connectivity they were offering. I figured a smart device like that would probably fail since it was controlled via smart phone and digital key pads. I wanted something that would last and figured a traditional style gas range with manual valves was the way to go. I also wanted a range where the handles faced outwards from the cabinets instead of outwards from the counter top. In the end I wound up choosing this Thor unit over a Viking unit which was $4k+ at the time or the GE unit which was about $3k+ at the time. I figured even if it didn't work, I wouldn't be out that much and I could return it. Much to my surprise this unit has been an absolute champ. The unit was shipped via pallet in heavy duty packaging. The install was easy for my contractors, but make sure you read the instructions. The unit should absolutely not be flush with the counter top. This poses a fire hazard as it makes it easier for things to fall into the burners from the counter top. You will actually see there are screws around the entire unit that are there to prevent you from trying to mount the unit flush to the counter top. Please read your manual before installing. After one year the unit is still working great. We have enough burners to do large meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's an excellent buy and we've had no problems with it. The cast iron grates look great and the stainless steel cleans easy. I honestly would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for high quality performance on a budget.

Pros: High quality, beautiful appearance. I love the ignition fuction. Very powerful / very hot front burners. . . . Cons: All of the front burners are large and powerful; All of the rear are smaller than the fronts, but all 3 rears are the same size (medium). Personally, I'd prefer a smaller burner in the rear, and I'd prefer a medium burner for one of the front burners. I find it difficult to make small adjustments to all six burners, but especially the 3 front burners. I have roughly 30 years experience cooking on several gas cooktops, both in homes and in restaurants.

So far I love this range! I do love the look of it and it works great! It gives me all the room to cook the big, elaborate, crazy meals that I enjoy making for my family! I really like the burner variations and the two burners with the simmer feature. It really is everything I was hoping to get out of a range, without having to drop 3500 or more for a Wolf or Viking. The only minor flaw that I've had is one burner is triggering the primary igniter burner to keep sparking constantly after the burner is lit. I've contacted support and we're working on a solution though, so the service and support is there. All around happy with my buy! Just like others on here, it's a major focus of my kitchen and it looks great! I've gotten many comments on it!

After three plus months of daily use the Thor 36-inch rangetop is exceeding our expectations. We installed the rangetop as part of a kitchen renovation and had it professionally installed and converted to propane with no issues. Adjustable feet on the bottom allow for easy, level installation in the cabinet. The burners have a full range of operation and work well on low flame. The burner controls are brightly lighted when on which is a good safety feature. The simmer burner (center front) is especially useful. The black enameled top pan is easy to clean with vinegar and the burners can be removed easily to accommodate a thorough cleaning. The steel grates are heavy and cooking pans and pots sit flat and do not have a tendancy to slide if bumped. The 36-inch top also accommodates the largest of canning pots or an iron grill pan with adequate clearances to cook on adjacent burners. The unit arrived on a wood pallet and was well packed. This rangetop, in my opinion, is a tremendous value as compared to other comparable but more costly rangetops.

We purchased this and the Thor conversion kit to support LP. After hiring an installer to convert/install, he said there is an issue with the simmer burner but should be covered by warranty. Called Thor and after 10 days of constantly calling, and then followed by many emails (would never call me), they said it wasn’t covered under warranty because the unit had been “modified” (due to the conversion). They also said I needed to replace the brass valves for aluminum ones. After ordering them and again hiring an installer - it turned out I had aluminum valves (not to mention they sent me the wrong valves). I wasted so much time and money (on hiring installers)! Absolutely ridiculous and one burner still doesn’t work! Could have been a great experience but will never buy Thor again.

Love this Thor cooktop range. The first and second one was delivered by UPS and both were damaged. But Amazon went of of there way to make sure the third one was delivered in top notch condition by personally delivering it themselves by their own Amazon employees. The Amazon lady that made it all happen went the extra mile and we really appreciate all her efforts she definitely needs a Raise haha, she’s an asset to Amazon . Great job!!! As soon as we get the Thor cooktop installed I will go back and update its performance, but it is gorgeous and can't wait to us it. Ok I just saw I never sent the earlier review we literally installed it the week of Thanksgiving. We actually got to cook our family meal on it . I’m sending pictures it looks beautiful in our new remodeled kitchen thanks to Hurricane Harvey. I love the 6 burner you definitely need a powerful vent with this cooktop. We love how when it’s on it lights up with blue LED lights. We’ve had a lot of compliments on this unit.

This stove is beautiful and puts out enough heat to be on par with any commercial stove. However, hope that nothing goes wrong with your stove as getting it serviced has been a nightmare. UPDATED: Took 21 weeks in total to get the issue corrected. This was 6 visits from a tech and 4 separate pieces that needed to be shipped. Now that it is repaired the rating has been moved from 1 star to 4 star. This stove is the best stove for the price point along with looked great and having the capacity to sear at a very high temperature. Also love the middle burner that allows you to run it at a very low simmer.

The center front burner has to be pushed down until it locks into place, otherwise the ignitor doesn't work. Even the service tech couldn't figure it out. Needs a sticker to explain this. The knobs are super sensitive, I'm constantly activating the ignitors when I lean forward while cooking.
