Kase Wolverine 82mm Magnetic 2 Stage Rubber Lens Hood 82

Extremely flexible. Excellent for controlled lighting and protecting the lens.

This is a very nice hood for use with Kase magnetic filters. It also works with other off-brand magnetic filters.The hood has two positions and when it is pulled back for wide angle lenses, you can get as wide as a 20mm lens on a full-fram camera before you start seeing the hood in the corners of your frame.The magnetism is adequate to hold it on but I won't use it if I'm walking or running through a crowd because it most assuredly will get knocked off. Use it for static situations where you won't bump it and it will work just fine.Another reviewer complained about the large adapter ring needed. Well, if it wasn't as big as it is, you would never be able to get your fingers around any of the magnetic filters you placed on your lens inside the hood.Kase makes high quality filters and photographic accessories and I'm happy to have this hood as part of my arsenal of useful accessories. It's especially nice that you can attach and remove it so quickly. If they could increase the magnetic strength, I'd be even happier.

I really wanted to love these hoods but the product compatibility is just not up to snuff... let me explain my use case scenario. I have a number of 77mm lenses as well as 82mm lenses.I purchased a complete Wolverine 82mm magnetic filter kit. I also purchased a number of 77-82mm step up magnetic adapters so that all my lenses could share the 82mm filter kit. I then purchased the 82mm magnetic hood to use with the lenses. The hood seemed like a perfect solution as I would have 1 hood to cover them all, but the issue is that when you connect the hood to the 77-82mm step-up ring, the magnetic strength is almost non-existent and the hood and any filters simply fall off. I tried to screw the magnetic hood adapter to the step-up ring but alas there is no way to do that, so there is no way to make the 82mm filters work with 77mm lenses if you want to use the magnetic hood.On the plus side, it is well made and would be very useful if you're only putting it on one lens with an 82mm thread, hence the 2 starts, but I'm not dropping another $1k to buy a complete set of 77mm filters when a step-up adapter and the larger hood should work.

Nice concept but falls off easily and also prohibits full view at wider angles.

When doing a professional film shoot, modern cameras and digital circuitry does a lot to minimize glare but the good old fashioned approach to using a lens hood to stop the glare in the first place is the best place to start. Not only that, a big whopping lens hood like this makes it easy for portrait photography...they know where to look! It impresses clients where I may only have a 55mm lens but with a 112mm outer diameter of a fully extended lens hood...well it suggests professionalism and whatever it takes to get the client looking favorably on my setup, that's what I want!

I really like this lens hood and how easy it was to attach. In case you didn't know, having a flexible hood like this allows you to take pictures through glass and it hides the reflection or glare in the glass. The only thing I don't like about it is that this rubber compound seems to be a dust and hair magnet. Maybe that will go away with age... I hope.

Whats the point of this hood? One would assume it would attach to the same magnetic adapter ring as Kase filters but it doesn't! It uses a totally different (and huge) adapter ring (included btw).

Seems to be well-made. Fits the lens perfectly. Appears like it will last and hold up to normal wear. It holds well for a magnetic hood. I am very happy with it.
