School Smart 85243 Cursive Ruled Notebook Paper with Margin - 8 in x 10 1/2 in - Ream of 500 - White - 085243

This paper has been extremely valuable to my young teen, who is mildly dyslexic/dysgraphic. Each line is 3/8" high, with a base-zone that is one-third of the line (1/8”), as indicated by a dashed line. There are no spaces in-between the lines, resulting in 24 lines per side. These features make this paper ideal for older students who have difficulty orienting their writing on traditionally lined loose-leaf paper. The size of the base-zone makes for a much more mature-looking handwriting that is not noticeably different from that of a typical teen; important when in-class writing assignments are required. This is the paper you want if you have an older child who needs indicator lines to help space his letters, but doesn’t want his writing to look ‘childish.' Some reviewers seem disappointed that the base-zone is not centered exactly in the middle of the line, but that is really only appropriate for young children who are learning the ‘ball-and-stick’ type of printing or are in the very beginning stages of learning cursive. Most people actually use about the bottom one-third of a line for their lower-case letters. The only ‘con’ is that the paper is fairly lightweight and is not available in either a heavier weight or with a reinforced margin. We wish that ‘School Smart’ also made spiral-bound notebooks and composition books with this layout! The paper is very thin. But, the lines have helped my boys immensely improve their penmanship. I have been at it since the beginning of the year with them. This solved the problem. In their first time using the paper I could see an improvement. Today they consistently write neatly, the letters are the same size, and all is completely legible. I’m so excited!!

Lines are a standard size, and the extra guideline helps students practice keeping their letter size uniform. A great tool for our classroom. I taught cursive to a group of homeschool students, 15 students, from grades 4-12. We used a program from Cursive Logic. I highly recommend it!! (just 4 lessons... and then LOTS of practice... is all it takes!) Paper is good quality, not newsprint. It is just like standard notebook paper. Easy to use. I will definitely order again.

My 4th grade home schooled son has been using this paper for about 4 months now and loves it. The reason the line is off center is because by this grade level, students should know where the midline is and be able to make their letters as tall as necessary by visualizing the "upper" line, instead of it having to be drawn on the paper for them. This teaches children to write at a comfortable letter size, but still leave a bit of room between lines for legibility and editing. We love this paper!

This paper is an absolute miracle! My ASD/PANDAS son has been struggling with printing for several years...size, spacing, writing off the lines, etc. We even had IEP meetings to discuss adding more services. Enter this paper. With the very first sheet his handwriting looked like it had come from a completely different child. No additional services needed! He will be starting middle school this year and this will be the only paper we put in his binder. I can't tell you how much more confident and prepared he feels!

Bought this paper for handwriting classes and it's not printed correctly -- center line is not in the right spot, red lines are not present and no holes. Requested a repalcement and they sent me the exact same wrong paper. Recommend purchasing from another vendor. March 2022

I thought this would be similar to the Handwriting Without Tears Cursive paper, which I can’t find anymore. This paper feels cheap…very thin like the old school handwriting paper we had in kindergarten in the 80’s. The worst part is that you can hardly see what is written on the paper if using pencil. I’ve tried multiple pencils so it has to be the paper.

My middle schooler needs help getting cursive handwriting in control. His tutor recommended this paper and it is helping him get his spacing formatted correctly. The line spacing is the same size as the width as his normal paper. He’ll continue using it until he masters cursive. The paper could be a little thicker especially given the premium price so I’m taking off a star because it is not a great value compared to standard paper. The only differences are red lines and thinner paper.
