Full Spec
Many USB to serial converters cut corners and can cause unexpected problems in some situations. This converter was recommended by the programmer we hired for an embedded controller as he had tested it for a lot of obscure problems and found that this one did not cause any problems. We and our customers have used these without any problems for several years.

Works great but if you drop the item it pops open and comes apart too easily.

Overall quality is good. The case will not stay in one piece. Makes it very difficult to do my work.

Best USB to Serial I've Found
I've owned a lot of USB to Serial converters. This one is the best by far. I'm sure everyone considering buying this product has had trouble with software/hardware compatibility using these devices... as have I. I simply don't own one piece of software that this thing doesn't work with. I can't say that about any other converter. Make sure you do the installation as recommended. Then, if your experience is similar to mine, you will have no problems.

Better than trying to find a laptop with a serial port
We work with PLCs all the time programming and troubleshooting. It is essential to have a laptop with you to take in the field. This Edgeport 1 USB to serial converter allows the modern laptop to be taken in the field. It is easy to install, simply go on the website and download the driver, and then get to programming and troubleshooting. It is on the pricey side of things but it is worth it in the long run. I haven't had a problem with it.

Use the manufacturer's drivers and it works like a charm.

A must for ABB Totalflow
For communication to ABB Totalflow devices, the edgeport is a must! Other converters will not drive the port on the ABB.
