What material is it made of?

Not durable plastic! It's made from the same plastic that holds it. It's that thin blow mold plastic that cracks and breaks easily under any stress. The tiles are hollow and the paint job is terrible. You're better off going to Etsy and buying 3d printed pieces to paint yourself or painted by real artists.

Do they offer expansions? How will I play expanded version with this?

The 3D expansion combo of Seafarers AND Cites & Knights will be released 10/28/2022. You will probably be out of luck for 3D versions of any of the other expansions or 5-6 player extensions.

Can these pieces be used with the original 3-D game that came in a trunk? What are the dimensions of the hexes?

Roughly yes. Hexes in 2005 Collectors Edition ≈1-2 mm larger (for they were more roughly shaped)
