Q: Is there another way to connect this monitor to my laptop without needing to download software? Company laptop does not allow external downloads.

This device will not work on a laptop without the driver. Unless you work for a small company where it will approve drivers dont get it. Returning.

Q: Anybody had any experience using this with a 17 inch monitor? wouldn't the placement of the magnets need to be off-center?

Don't have any experience with 17'', however based on my experience in using with 15'', the sidetrack screen may appear somewhat smaller. Works great with 15'' though.

Q: Is this compatible with Apple Silicon Macbooks?

This product did not work with my Mac drivers. Returned it.
