Easy setup. Great app. Working well.
Purchased almost a year ago and works perfectly with my outdoor Feit LED stringlights. Great Kasa app with excellent scheduling options. Smooth dimming from 0% to 100%. Full Alexa support with voice commands for on, off and dimming to any level desired. I have many Kasa smartplugs. None have failed and all work flawlessly. Highly recommend!

Excellent with a few *
I picked up 20 of these because they were under $14 each, making them even cheaper than the lowest-cost Chinese Smart Life dimmers. For the price, they deliver a lot of value and functionality.Pairing these with the Kasa app was straightforward and hassle-free. Linking them to Google Home and Amazon Alexa was just as easy, and I had zero issues getting them to work with both platforms. One of the standout features is the design. Since the cable extends away from the unit, you can plug it into the lower outlet and still have room for something in the top outlet. This is a big advantage over some of my Lutron dimmers, which are bulky and tend to monopolize the entire outlet.Another great feature is the grounded outlet. Unlike many dimmer controllers, such as my Lutron and GE models, which only have hot and neutral connections, these include grounding for added safety and versatility. It is worth noting that these dimmers only support up to 4 amps, so you need to keep your load under 400 watts. For most modern LED lighting, this is not an issue. However, for some of my outdoor Christmas lights, which are older incandescent strings, I had to limit the number of strings I could connect. It was not a big deal, though, because these are so affordable that I just used a second one to handle the extra load. Finally, I was impressed by the lack of flickering. Even at low dimming levels, there was no noticeable flicker with my LED lights, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, these dimmers are a fantastic value and work flawlessly indoors and outdoors.

Easy to Program and Convenient for Outdoor Use
This timer is really easy to program, which I prefer over the older-style timers that look like clocks and require you to manually press down all the tabs to set the time. Those can be a hassle, especially since you have to constantly adjust them as sunrise and sunset times change throughout the year. What I love most is that I can program it to turn on at specific times and set different schedules for different days of the week. Plus, it automatically adjusts for sunrise, sunset, and daylight savings time, eliminating the need for manual resets every season.I mainly use it for outdoor fountains and lights, and it works perfectly—making life so much easier. I also use Kasa light switches as well, so it is nice to have everything on the same app.

Kasa Good
Product: Kasa / TP-Link Outdoor Smart Plug, single outlet, model KP401Gist: overall I like it and would get it again although I'd actually get the one with 2 plugs insteadGood: Kasa Smart app works good, the Kasa/TP-Link products are good quality and good function with the Kasa App or the Alexa App and Echo devices, actual setup of the plug was very simple and easy - just select it in the Kasa app and then go into Alexa and it already has it ready to go without even doing anything. Not so good: you have to have the Kasa Smart App on your phone, you need a username and password, the unit is not waterproof - it is weather proof - that means no direct water contact I'm pretty sure. It is designed to be plugged into the outlet and for the unit to hang down by the cord about 7 inches with the actual socket facing the bottom. That way rain will not enter, just run off the sides. Just keep that in mind when determining if this style plug will fit into your scenario.Details: My first smart plug was a Kasa/TP-Link product that I purchased off Amazon in 2017 and in 2024 it is still operating perfectly with Alexa/Echo so I expect this item will also last a few years.Since I already had a Kasa account setup in 2017 all I had to do was login and add this new device. Well, I haven't accessed that account since 2017 and haven't had the Kasa app on my phones since then either. I've just been using the Echo devices to control my Kasa devices ever since initial setup years ago. So here is the process for me to setup this device:First: Like most smart devices you need the 2.4 GHZ band of your internet router to be active along with the 5 GHZ all the time.1. download the Kasa Smart App onto my phone (I ditched Apple so I use the Android version now)2. open the Kasa App - it will want a login before anything else can be done. If you have an existing account and don't know your username or password then just click recover option and it will send a link to your email it has on file. Use the link to reset the password. I actually had my password written down but I think since its been years since I logged in it was disabled and that's why I had to do the reset.3. After you login to the app, just click the plus sign for add device and scroll through the types to select your Outdoor Plug and then the KP401.4. Assign a group or routine in the Kasa App if you want5. Once you're done with the Kasa app if you go into the Alexa app it should be already setup and ready to use.I didn't give it 5 stars because everything can always be better and I think the amount of cord this hangs by should be shorter. For some reason they didn't think so. It works well but looks a little clunky in my patio scenario.
