I absolutely love these Organic Black Turtle Beans!They're a staple in my pantry now. The fact that they're non-GMO, sproutable, vegan, and kosher is a huge plus. They're not only versatile but also a fantastic source of plant-based protein and fiber. As many others noted, these beans are hard after hours of cooking. I thought I was doing something wrong at first, using a new InstaPot pressure cooker. No. After 40 min at high, then a natural release, inedible.I hate throwing food out, so tried on the stovetop one last time. Brought to boil then simmered. And simmered. And simmered. After about 5, actually almost 6 hours: hard and not worth eating. The cooked almost as hard as the raw. Waste of money.Into the compost pile and not buy from this vendor again.

There are many brands of black beans but quality is important because you are eating beans instead of white rice which may not be healthy for diabetes. So, for that reason the beans I choose better be high in quality to get the most of it.

I received these beans and was utterly delighted. They look better than any beans I could have purchased in a regular grocery store and far better than any other bulk beans I've bought before. The are plump, well-dried, and a lovely dark shade of black.Since I store my bulk products in smaller containers for ease of access I had the chance to shift through the entire bag and didn't find a single rock or icky bean.Definitely will be purchasing from Food to Live again.

Whenever I soak my beans, I see tiny little black critters (aphids?) trying to swim their way out of the pot. Does anyone have suggestions how to store black beans organically so these critters die/do not develop? Obviously the seller doesn't know.

These beans cook up very nicely.

My friend was so thrilled to have these. She lives in a very small town and their grocery store doesn't sell these. She was so delighted to receive them delivered straight to her door!
