Fred Kelly Picks D2-L-8 Delrin Slick Light Guitar Pick (Pack of 8)

I'm fairly new to fingerstyle guitar - played pop, rock and country in bands for years. Although I would rate this as a medium pick rather than a light - I have no background to make that authoritatively. These are really nice thumb picks and should do the job for any guitarist needing one. Can't comment on (thumb) size as I have nothing to compare.

I like the idea of thumb picks, but I've never found one that gave me the responsive feel of playing the string that I get with either a thumb or a flatpick. Until now. I bought the "light" ones (D2-L-8), and they have a completely different feel from any thumb pick I've tried. The material is softer than other picks, and the flexibility eliminates the lack of control you get with a rigid pick. It's not flabby like a thin gauge pick, but more like a medium. Because the tip is a little pointy, I rounded it with a fingernail clipper. Suits me better that way. Most thumb picks I've used slide around on my thumb, so I ordered the smaller ones (D2-L-8). I have big hands, and they fit tightly. Maybe too tight for some people, but they don't move at all, and it's worth a pinched thumb for that. I highly recommend these picks. UPDATE: I've been using these for 2+ years, and they have changed how I play, for the better. The "feel" of these picks is really unique, and they produce a more natural sound. The sound is louder than a fingernail, with a softer tone. The sound is similar to a delrin flatpack - and if you haven't tried those, you should. Finally, the key for me has been trimming these picks way down, so that my thumb is in pretty much the same position it would be with a long thumbnail. Very little change to my playing style, but I don't have to worry about tearing up a thumbnail. I LOVE these picks.

I like the quality, a little tight, but I have big hands. They definitely stay on thumb when you get them on. I would love it if they were about 50% softer, but I don’t like an aggressive pick.

A very bright sounding thumb pick . Captures treble overtones and new string sizzle. Less pronounced bass fullness when compared to thicker thumbpicks such as Dunlop.

High quality, great price, fast delivery. These get rave reviews from so many, but they just do not work for me. I use the very outside corner edge of my thumb for Travis picking. These picks, no matter the amount of clipping and detailed filing 1. do not line up for my pattern, and 2. keep my thumb too far away from the string to have a good/natural feel. Not a knock on the company or their product--I know I am the problem. So, into the jar they go; another failed attempt in my seemingly endless quest to find the 'right' pick :)

I assume it's to do with my finger size/shape/length/angle of attack, but the Dunlop thumb picks always get the thumb ring caught in the strings. Also, I don't love how long the tip is from the thumb. These are perfect. They have a smaller profile, shorter length, and the thumb insert doesn't get caught on the strings. This is my second order of these and I'll go with them forever! I would recommend this product.

Well, thumb picks are certainly a matter of personal preference. I tried these one day, and I just love them. Make sure that you get the correct size, normal or large, not designated with the L ( for light). I am not a big guy, and the large fits me best. There is not a lot of difference between the light, medium and heavy. My preference is the orange, medium.

I've been trying Travis Picking with these picks and really like them. I would have given them 5 stars instead of 4 if the product description had not been misleading. The thumb size is not large, it is only medium (or standard). These have product code D2-L-8 (i.e., Derlin material, light 0.70mm, 8 per package). The "large" size of these thumb picks have product code D2B-L-8. The "B" apparently stands for "big" (large). Sizes medium (standard) or large are only relative terms. You need to figure out for yourself what size fits your thumb best without squeezing too tight. I think when Fred Kelly started making these picks, they only offered the standard size. The "large" size was added later. If you have big hands, the B size might be a little more comfortable.

I'm transitioning from bare thumb to thumb pick so I ordered Light, Medium and Heavy to experiment. The Heavy picks fit the tightest due to the thicker material but I may try heating it up to open the fit a bit. I had tried other thumb picks before and had to file down the pick as it stuck out too far for my taste. I did not have to do that with these picks. Overall, I'm very happy with the product and look forward to developing my skill using them.

Bought these as I had some others that were a bit tight, and the pick part stuck out a bit too far for my liking. These fit over my thumb very well and have a shorter picking end, so win/win. Will depend on the size of your thumb, but there is room for manouver. You get 7 in a pack, so good value as well. Would recommend.

Kudos to Fred Kelly for for this little baby...feels great when playing and integrates to the hand and guitar, easily. I have small hands and have tried several different thumb picks over the years and didn't like any of them and as a result didn't use them. Love the 'Slick Pick'. Delivery was prompt, packaging couldn't be better.

Been wanting to get into thumb pick playing for a while but always found them either way too heavy and obstructive or too flimsy .....these seem to suit me ...rigid but not too heavy and they're fairly short as well so I can rest my hand that little bit closer to the strings ....the rounded end feels good to me. Can't say whether they'd suit everyone but i think I've finally found a pick style I can use regularly. Better value than the price suggests as you get a pack of seven ...that's not clear from the ad.

These are a good pick after the medium thickness if your strings are on the duller side and you don't want to change the strings just yet. They add some more brightness without being overly shrill
