The grommet works great and looks terrific. It is well built out of heavy metal with a really nice finish. The only issue is that it doesn't stay secure in the hole when you remove the cover because the cover has a nice secure fit and the effort to remove the cover is greater than the effort to remove the entire grommet from the hole. Perhaps a slightly smaller hole might be the answer because there are what I'll call metal ribs under the lip that could secure the grommet if the hole was a little smaller.I have built several desktops for our new home for computer use. My wife doesn't like to see wires, so she asked me to do something to hide the wires. I built, what I'll call, a wire chase under the desk to contain the wires and used these grommets to contain the wire mess. They worked great. I purchased a Lennox 2 1/2" hole saw at Lowe's to use to make the hole. I found that making a hole that size can be difficult because the hole saw wants to chatter and cause tear-out on my new counter-top, so I pre-drilled a hole in a scrap piece of wood and clamped it to the desktop in the location where I wanted the grommet and had less damage doing it that way.I have used about 5 of these in my desktops and would not hesitate to order these again. Good quality and fine build and finish.

I got these for my desk. They are well-machined and solid. The matte finish is perfect for minimalist applications where you don't want the gromet to stand out in any way. Easy to install. The lid fits tightly; it relies on friction alone, as opposed to the clips that some gromets use, so it requires some strength to pull out, but is much less fiddly to put back on.

Looks good, solid , sized correctly

Nice quality, black metal grommet. But as some other reviewers have noted, slightly smaller than a 2-1/2-inch hole. That seems to be a problem that plagues these types of products, as I'm guessing they're all produced in metric/millimeters, rather than inches. Wanting to avoid a loose fit, I opted for a 2-3/8" hole saw, which is too small, but I slowly widened the hole with a file until it fit snugly. If it exists, a 2-7/16" hole saw would be perfect for this product.

Used to set a gas fire place on/off floor valve plate in. Worked great.

The media could not be loaded. Paint was chipped all around the lip. Disappointed as I spent extra for a metal piece.

Consistent finish and has a nice weight to it. I wished it fit a little tighter after using a 2.5" hole saw bit, but a dab of caulk should work.
