Most functional lights you can buy!
I'm sorta a light freak. So when I installed these puppies, it was like I was an 8 year old on Xmas day. I was turned off that my 96 feet only had 30 actual lights? Couldn't tell how many I would get by looking at the listing. So there is one light every 3 feet. 6 feet for cord I guess. Plugged in and downloaded app and got it connected. Very easy. Go to preinstalled content and hit illumination. Pow. Bright lights for outside security. All my neighbors have lights on their deck and under it, mine are the brightest. You can actually set each and every light to a color you select, and save your design. Many pre-installed modes that twinkle. Xmas themes. Halloween too. Dance party. Reacts to music. The app let's you pick a time to turn on and off. You can select 4 times a day. I just use two, on at 7pm off at 7am. Pick any color you can imagine and any dimness. One of my favorite purchases. These are made to attach to your gutters. So easy if that is where you want them. If not, put a long screw in the wood that you are installing. Pull cord tight and wrap once around the screw to make it not sag, or sag as wished. Directions do say power adapter not water proof, so I will duct tape a lunch bag over that. Hope my pics tell you some of what it does. Got mine for 69 bucks. 2 stings, 96ft 30 lights.

These Govee Smart Outdoor lights are awesome!
I was looking for some lights to not only use at Christmas but to keep up all year for just hanging out on the patio. These Govee lights fit the bill to a T. I had bought one other Govee product at that point (PC lighting) and loved it so I thought I'd give the brand another shot. These lights (got two strands so 96 feet) work perfectly! They seem to be well made and the ability to connect them to their app makes them so easy to control too! I love these! Pros: Seem to be very well made. Connects easily to the app. Totally controllable from the app. You can pick different light setups that are on the app (which I did for Christmas as they had like 5 different themes you could do premade) or you can totally make your own rules. You can control every individual light and have it be whatever color you want. It's a little bit of a pain to do but I messed around with it and had some cool patterns going. My favorite part is I have the lights set up on a timer. Every day at 4pm the lights come on and they turn back off at 11:30pm. I never do a thing unless I want to change something. You can even open the app and turn them on like at noon (dark rainy day) and they'll turn on and then it goes into the scheduling and turns off at the 11:30 mark. Very cool! Great light set! Cons: Just two things I can think of... 1) You can only turn them on or off unless you use the app ( and only white steady on) so if you hate having to use apps I'd leave these alone. 2) The controller that is between the end of the light strand and then the power cord doesn't appear to be waterproof. I wouldn't trust that it is anyway. Kinda weird when they are outdoor lights. I bought a waterproof box to keep it watertight. You can barely see the box in the bottom right of my picture.

My first Christmas Lights on the House!
Overall, very happy with my purchase. Better than I hoped for. I had a hard time seeing from the reviews and videos on YouTube just how bright these would be, and I was worried they would be dim. Although the lights are 3 feet apart, I knew that from the specs, and I bought 2 of the 96 feet strands so that I could shorten them with zip ties between each light, to get the distance down to 18 inches. Looks great and that is what I think a perfect spacing now. Pros: -Application comes with a ton of really cool preset lighting scenes to choose from -LED lights are bright -The price, I mean, why wouldn't you buy lights with this many features and ability to independently control each LED color? You would easily spend just as much buying dumb lights at any of the big box retail stores that don't do much of anything other than turn on and off. Cons: -The lights are about 3 feet apart. -I am still figuring out the application, but so far, having problems with a couple of things: The lights when put into a group want to connect over bluetooth instead of Wifi, so can only control them locally with phone and the automation configuration doesn't seem to work consistently. When configuring the lights wifi, it wants the settings on my ihpone... which means I have to connect my phone to my 2.4Ghz band instead of my 5Ghz which is annoying. It is kind of odd really. -Not so easy to figure out how to customize your own lighting scheme

Not the best design but works flawlessly
I replaced a set of warm white LED cafe string lights with these Govee lights. The concept is cool and I'm a big fan of their lights so I thought I knew what to expect. The first thing I noticed was that the lights felt rather, well, light. The old cafe lights I replaced had some heft to each bulb since they were encased in a heavy acrylic. These Govee bulbs are plastic on construction and the cord they are attached with are thin and felt likely to break. I had to buy some 1/8" steel braided cable to hang the Govee lights. Which brings me to the next issue: each bulb includes a clip on the side of the bulb base. This makes it so that the bulbs do not hang straight down but tilt to one side. In some cases the bulbs actually hang upside down due to their light weight and the twist of the cord they're on. The plug and controller unit are also not waterproof whatsoever, which required me to buy a separate housing box to keep it all safe and dry. Luckily the housing doesn't prevent the Bluetooth connection required to get the lights up and running within Govee's amazing app. If you've used any other Govee lights you know that the app is top tier, allowing easy control and integration with their other lights. A lot of other brands provide hardware that is comparable in quality to Govee, but it's the software that gives them the edge and it shows. From the unboxing with the nice packaging through the setup and install process, you can't ask for anything easier. Despite the complaints I've listed, the lights are ultimately very nice and work flawlessly. I've had them up around my pool since February and they've lasted through multiple days of downpours just fine.

Not worth the money, so disappointed
Worked great, colors where bright and so many choices. We have two strings around our pool. We were looking forward to using them for multiple seasons as we are the only house on a hill. So , neighbors could see them with ease. But now we can not get them to even turn on. We have used the phone app several times and nothing happens. Still dark. We follow the companies directions and nothing happens . We have an other set of lights in the same outlit( not wifi) just plain cheap lights and they work. We hit a cheap remote and it will change colors. For the money we spent on these lights I would recommend go cheap. I can replace the cheap for once a year for 3 Years to make up for the price I paid for this product. The sad thing is we loved these lights for the first 3 months we spent a crap load of money for the house lights they sell and I'm afraid they will crap out like their cheaper counter products.

I've got the coolest patio in the complex!
My neighbor bought and installed some patio string lights and I was inspired to light up my patio as well. I didn't want to "bite" their style so I decided to get color changing lights as the rest of my apartment is comprised of color changing LEDs, star laser projectors, and black lights. (I need to entertain myself!) I have the Govee LED dreamlight strip in my house, nicknamed the portal as its arches over my bar, so I already have the Govee Home phone app installed and I've enjoyed all the modes as well as the DIY mode. These patio lights work almost exactly the same way and the modes are awesome. The illumination mode, which is the most utilitarian mode, is great for a small patio mounted at about 10ft high and lights up the area enough for me to do my laundry and for when I need to tend to the smoker/grill. The color temperature is a little warmer than I would like but its not as bad as my original patio light I had which was borderline yellow. The color modes which are stunning aren't as bright but work well as mood lighting for my patio hookah sessions or when I want flex on my neighbors and friends. I didn't purchase the set that comes with the remote so I won't speak on that but I haven't had any issues with the Bluetooth app on my phone. It recently rained at my place and the lights are indeed water proof but like other reviews have stated that the "brain" of the lights is not water proof so I've kept the controller and power plug out of the way of the rain and I haven't had any issues. My patio is about 9' x 11' and I mounted the lights in 3 rows of 5 lights which look great. If you have a similar size patio or close to and like the idea of having colored lights, I would definitely recommend these lights.

They are awesome!
These Govee string lights are seriously awesome. I got the 96ft version (two 48ft ropes), and they’ve completely leveled up my backyard setup. The colors are super bright and fun, and I love that you can also switch to a warm white for a chill vibe. The app is easy to use, and the lights work great with Alexa. I’ve set up different scenes for parties, dinners, and even just relaxing at night. It’s also cool being able to control everything from my phone without having to go outside. They’ve held up great through some bad weather too—no issues at all with rain or wind. Everything feels solid and well-made. If you're looking to add some smart, colorful lighting to your patio or backyard, I totally recommend these. Great quality, easy to set up, and they just look amazing!

I thought they broke but Govee’s customer service helped me
I initially wrote a bad review because the lights stopped working after a year- they wouldn’t turn on or connect. But govees customer service got back to me and helped me troubleshoot and my lights are working now! I love them. I have several Govee Products and this was the only time I had an issue. I’m happy it was resolved.

Review: Govee Smart Outdoor String Lights – A Game-Changer I Absolutely Love
I recently installed the Govee Smart Outdoor String Lights in my backyard, and I can’t say enough good things about them! These lights have completely transformed my outdoor space, and I’m giving them a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars for their stunning design, smart features, and overall performance. Here’s why I’m absolutely in love with them. Design and Installation The lights come in a generous length (I opted for the 48-foot version), with shatterproof bulbs that give off a warm, inviting glow. The Edison-style bulbs, paired with a sturdy black cord, add a rustic yet modern touch to my patio and garden area. Installation was a breeze—thanks to the included clips and zip ties, I was able to hang them along my fence and pergola with ease. The IP65 waterproof rating gives me peace of mind, as they’ve held up perfectly through recent rain showers here in late May 2025. Smart Features and Performance What sets these lights apart is their smart functionality. Controlled via the Govee Home app, I can customize the colors, brightness, and even create dynamic scenes to match my mood or occasion. I’ve had a blast experimenting with the 16 million color options, from soft whites for a cozy evening to vibrant reds and blues for a backyard party. The music sync feature is a highlight—pairing them with my outdoor speaker, the lights pulse to the beat, creating an immersive atmosphere that my guests can’t get enough of. They also work seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant, so I can turn them on with a simple voice command, which is handy when my hands are full. The brightness is impressive, with each bulb offering around 100 lumens, illuminating my space beautifully without being overpowering. They charge up during the day with their solar option (for the models that include it) and automatically turn on at dusk, lasting well into the night—perfect for late-night gatherings. Durability and Value The build quality feels solid, and the lightweight design makes them easy to adjust or reposition. After a couple of weeks of use, they show no signs of wear, even with the occasional windy day. At their price point (often discounted below $80 for the 48-foot set), they offer incredible value compared to other smart string lights on the market, which can easily cost double. The ability to connect multiple strands adds versatility for larger spaces, though I haven’t needed that yet with my setup. Final Thoughts The Govee Smart Outdoor String Lights are a dream come true for anyone looking to elevate their outdoor ambiance. I absolutely love how they combine practicality with fun, smart features, making my backyard the go-to spot for relaxation and entertainment. Whether it’s a quiet night under the stars or a lively get-together, these lights deliver every time. If you’re considering smart outdoor lighting, these are a must-have—I can’t recommend them enough! Rating: 5/5 Stars – A perfect blend of style, technology, and durability that I adore!

Super Cool Light String!
This product is super cool. It’s nice and long, almost 100 feet (30 bulbs spread over 96ft I think it was…), and the styling is nice the way the lights hang off the main cord. One of my favorite features is the fact that they are plastic bulb covers, so you don’t have to worry about hitting them together or dropping them and glass breaking, or the bulbs burning out since they are LED and last forever. The app to control them was very easy to install and connect to the lights, and it lets you control the color of each one of the 30 bulbs individually, which is the coolest feature. There are also a whole bunch of premade color/movement patterns built in. They have made themed ones for almost any occasion (Christmas, Halloween, Birthday), as well as ones to mimic places like carnivals or nighttime skylines, and things you find in nature like galaxies, sunsets, fireflies, or ocean waves. They’ve even got ones to match your mood. They are all really fun and there are too many options to list. Highly recommend and will likely purchase more for other areas. Would work great as Christmas lights wrapped around an evergreen. These will go around the deck come summer time. Got them because Costco had a set that was half the length for $60 on sale, but they had nowhere near the amount of features that this string does. I wanted to see comparables on Amazon and saw these on sale for just under $100 as the deal of the day, so pulled the trigger, and I’m SO glad I did. They are so fun, easy to use, well made, and stylish. 10/10.

Love these lights.
We expanded our back patio and added a bunch of new furniture and a gazebo. What we didn’t have was enough light in the backyard to illuminate the area. So I picked up these GOVEE lights and strung them up around the gazebo, then stretched them from the gazebo up to my back porch. The lights look great and add good illumination to the area. The colour selection and scenes are fun to watch and experiment with. I dock a star because the electrical components are only IP65 rated for waterproofness. And the control button on the light string is closer to the lights than to the plug in. It should have been closer to the plug in to allow for better protection from the elements. As it stands these lights will need to be taken down for the winter, as west coast Canadian winters tend to be very wet and I don’t have much faith this product is adequately water rated considering it’s designed to be an outdoor product. Apart from this issue though, the lights are wonderful and provide a nice ambiance to my outdoor oasis. Recommend.

Last less than a year
Lasted less than a year and no longer turn on. Contacted support and they quickly sent a refund and provided me a shipping label to send back the old product so they could figure out what went wrong and improve the product.
