Durable and Reliable, Hunting Dog Approved!
When I purchased these I was skeptical of the price and button mechanism. I've had many dog lights over the years and they get thrashed and eventually fail. My 2 Wirehair Griffons have tested these lights in every way conceivable. I live in the Cascades of the Pacific North West where it rains basically daily. My two Griffons run off leash covering over a hundred miles a week year round through tall grass, brush, blackberries, muddy swamps, rivers and lakes. Water retrieving in rivers and ponds through frozen and 100 degree temps, these lights have continued to function reliably. My Application:I personally run eCollars with a 3/4" strap and lace one light on each side of the receiver module. This allows me to really light the dogs up when making my way out to the blind before dawn or returning to the truck after a long upland hunt after dusk. These lights have a lens that's super bright and O-ring sealed to maintain the water and dust proof housing. Battery life is great, I use these lights daily and can get 3-4 months before needing a replacement, using them mostly in the constant on mode. They fit snug on the rubber coated collars I use, which allows me to position the light on top, sides ,or bottom, depending on the hunting conditions. The Button:I can see why some people say the button on these lights is hard to operate. The button is a metal dot about an 1/8" in diameter that is shrouded by plastic. The programming cycles through several modes and can sometimes be difficult to operate with gloves on. (basically impossible) But even with that being said, I believe there is no better light on the market for durability and performance.Room for Improvement:SportDog/Pet Safe could improve this product by using a switch that clicks when pressed. This would allow the user interface to be a little more predictable. The addition of a rechargeable lithium power pack or integrated lithium battery would make this product on par with modern headlamps and would prevent guys like me from having to keep coin batteries in the truck all the time. I imagine the designers made these choices to prioritize durability.I recommend these lights to every dog owner that wants to "buy once cry once". I consider these a required safety item for anyone who walks or runs dogs in lowlight. Either in the field off leash, or on busy streets in suburbia, these lights are an absolute win!

Really good doggie light, only one problem
This is a well designed and versatile light, except for one thing. It has a one button switch which toggles between on, flashing and off depending on how long you hold the button down. On and flashing, no problem, but getting it to turn off is another thing entirely. maybe I need to get the hang of it a little better, but otherwise, it can be a bit exasperating. Overall though, I'm happy with the product.UPDATE: I finally got the hang of this switch! It took a while and I'm not always perfect with the timing, however, I moved it up to 5 stars because it really is a good strong light and the clip included hangs well. I would recommend this product, just have patience until you get the hang of it.

The single best dog light I’ve found - secure, bright, robust, & highly-waterproof,
This seems like an ideal light for an active dog. Quite pricy, but if these last more than a year, they’ll be well worth it. It is compact, robust, fits securely on the collar, and seems to be sealed extremely well (the light base has a large rubber seal and the transparent dome lens twists and locks down onto it). Unlike clip-on fob-type lights, these don’t dangle - they are snug to the collar and don’t get snagged in the puckerbrush. Battery life? Not sure yet. Our 1st light is four months old and going strong with daily use.I’ve attached these on the Garmin tracking collars for our two most rambunctious dogs - both Lab cross rescues with far more energy than brains. During our daily walks, each of them runs 2-3 miles off-leash through a swamp, heavy undergrowth, and multiple streams (we’re fortunate to have hundreds of acres of undeveloped forest adjacent to our farm). No sign of a leak or damage thusfar.I’ve positioned the lights so they sit on top of the dogs’ collars, kind of like the old bubblegum lights on police cars. The lights are very bright and I can easily see the dogs from the side or the rear at a max distance of 200-300 yards. This, coupled with the flashing “headlights” on the Garmin tracking collars make the dogs stand out on those rare occasions when they terrify their human by deciding to run out to the road.A word of warning: when all else fails, read the directions! This will save you from saying bad words as you try to figure out how to open the device, how to orient the batteries (you use both included), and how to turn it on, off, and make it blink.Cheat sheet: (The light twists open, you insert both batteries in the base before locking down the lens (make sure you have the batteries correctly oriented - look carefully at the picture), you have to hold the switch button down for 4-5 seconds to turn the light on, you have to let go of the button and then hold it again for 4-5 seconds to make it blink, and when you turn it off you have to hold the button continuously while it goes from blinking to steady and then to off).My one quibble has to do with the order for the second light. My order record clearly shows that I ordered one with an orange lens. I received red instead. Not a big deal, but annoying. I wanted a separate color for each of my dogs. An Amazon issue, not a light issue.Regardless of breed, size, or activity level, if you want a bright, highly-visible light with a low profile that securely mounts to the collar, I suspect you’ll find these lights to be ideal.

Tough light for your working dog.
My husband uses it every night at work, still going on original battery. 6 months later. And very bright too. Solid or flashing options. Tough light. I don't know if I got a good one or what. I've seen a number of bad reviews about it. Yes, it is hard to turn on, but it is a safety measure I suppose. There are two prongs that stick up beside the button. He just uses his thumb nail to hold it in and it works every time. Press it again and it flashes. When he turns it off, he twists the lens a quarter turn and it's off. Then twist it back. I'm not sure if this is the right way to turn it off, but it works perfectly well for him. Seems very well made. It gets used almost every weekday. And still going on the battery it came with. He doesn't understand what all the fuss is about them. We're going to order a second one just so he can tell what side of our dog he's looking at. He thinks it will be yellow. And it is VERY bright. He can watch him at 200 yards easily. I hope this helps others looking for a good tough light for their working dog.

So hard to turn off and on..
First lets say I am a fan of SportDog products, I have a remote collar from them which is well made and has lasted a long time. Due to this experience I bought this brand of light for my dogs collar. The product is well made and solid but the problem is the on/off button. The button is small, has to be pressed hard to get it to work, also to turn off the unit you have to hold the button down for 6 seconds which combined with the bad design of the button is more or less impossible, especially if the dog is wearing the light. Secondly after 2 seconds of holding the button the light goes from solid to flash so making it especially difficult to know if you have reached the 6 seconds or not.I had to remove the batteries to turn the light off eventually, so returned the product.

Impossible on/of switch
The function button is so small and resessed it is almost imposible to turn the light on or of by hand.

Couldn't do a British winter without it!
Ordered 2 now as they are great, I mount them on top of my dogs Julius harnesses and I can see them perfectly at a long distance. Battery life is excellent and easy to replace. However would be nice if i was sent green instead of blue I was sent... twice...

The best tracker light by a country mile
The best tracker light by a country mile. Fitted to its own collar makes it easy to put on and off. My dog has a long coat so all lights get 'lost' a little but this light is so bright that you either see the Blue Led or the pool of light it throws. If you have the light on the back of the dogs neck it can dazzle you. I have found the best position is under the dogs neck where it is just as visible. Others have commented that the on off button is difficult. I haven't found this to be a problem but having the light on its own collar helps as you can a set the light on before fitting on the dog and turn it off when removed and you don't have to deal with the movement of the dog. The button is small but easily operated with a thumb nail. Visibility range is excellent and it stands up to wet weather and robust play. A great product that's worth the few extra pounds.
