Almost perfect
**Compared to the POC air vpd, IXS Carve Evo, 661Evo II, Alpine Stars paragon, 7 Protection Flex.**I have a silicone/latex allergy and searched for a high quality set of pads that would stay put while not having the rubbery non-slip band applied to the inside of the pads at the upper arm. First of all I could find no clear descriptions regarding the presence of a possible allergen on any of these pads. If you also suffer from rash and blisters from your pads you may want to consider POC, 7idp and Race Face as these were the only ones I could find that did not incorporate that sticky non-slip band. The Race Face pads fit well right away with just the coverage I was looking for. They cover more than half my forearm and turn up only a third of the way on the upper arm. The two Velcro straps combined with the neoprene material held the pads in place during 7 straight hours of bike park laps. They are not at all bulky but offer much more protection than the Alpine Stars paragon or similar lightweight pads. The POC pads literally cover the elbow ONLY. The 661 pads were a little too bulky as were the 7idp, although the latter was my second favorite. The IXS pads are super comfy but have the non-slip band and don’t seem like they would last more than a season.I love the Race Face pads, however after the first use I discovered a significant product design flaw with these pads. The Velcro hooks are on the pad body and the soft Velcro fabric is on the elastic strap. The size large pads comfortably fit my arms but when the strap is pulled tight there is two or more inches of the Velcro hooks that remain uncovered. They frayed the sleeves of my shirt and began to pull the threads away at the nearest stitching on the elbow pads. Rather than return the pads I chose to alter them because they are the most comfortable pads I have found yet. I used a Dremel tool with a sanding wheel and polished down the Velcro hooks that I will not be needing. I spent another seven hours at the bike park and they worked flawlessly. I hope Race Face will consider swapping the Velcro system on these pads because then they will absolutely be worth five stars.

I like them, just wayyy too small..
Update: 9-22-16I did not know that race face had a fit chart for their guards... I've included it in the pictures for you to help.No wonder they don't fit lol.I definitely like this pair of elbow pads. They look and feel like they will breathe well and they seemlike they will be really comfortable granted you get the right size. They also flex with your arm being that there are either multiple cuts in the pad to make it conformto your elbow or that there are actually multiple pads in the elbow that are stitched in place to fit your elbow.Either way, I think they will be excellent once I get the next size up.Hopefully this review will help you avoid ordering the wrong size as I did.My forearm at the center between wrist and elbow is 12".My elbow before bicep is 12" and my bicep is 14".I ordered a Large and when I went to put them on I could barely get the top of thematerial above my elbow.... much less get the pads to line up with my elbow.I was able to squeeze them up into place however my arm was bulging out of the top andthe velcro strap was tight and maxed out before tightening it to the velcro patch, meaning I'm prettymuch cutting the circulation off to my arm once I cinch the velcro down in place...You would think that I mistakenly ordered junior pads and not adult that is how small they are on my armand I don't consider myself to have huge arms or big arms by any means so I figured a large would be fine.I figured wrong...You can see in the photos that I pulled them on first and they stop snugjust above my elbow leaving the majority of the pad down towards my forearm.I then have to grab the pad from behind and wrench it up to even get it onto my arm where the padswill then line up properly. Afterwards you can see where the pads should be and how much it is cuttinginto my arm once I've pulled the strap tight and latched the velcro down.Anyways, I hope this helps you figure out what size you need.

So far, so good
I've been using these for three weeks now and so far I'm satisfied with them. This is my first time wearing elbow pads while mountain biking so I have no experience with other elbow pads. I measured my arms using the chart on RaceFace's website and ordered a size large based on that. They fit fine. At first I thought they were going to be too small but after wearing them they fit perfectly. They have a nice mesh material on the inside of the elbow to help your elbow bend and also to give some ventilation to your arm - you're definitely going to sweat more because your arm is covered and there really isn't any way around that. I don't notice them while riding until I'm going downhill through a rock / root garden and then they start to slide down my arm due to all the vibration. I may try fitting the velcro a little tighter but I don't want them too tight and I don't mind having to pull them back up here and there. Fortunately, I haven't had a crash to see how protective they are and hopefully I won't need to find out, but they seem like they are good quality. On a side note, I've been using the RaceFace knee pads for two months and they've been great also.UPDATE: I tightened up the velcro strap on the bicep just a touch and that almost eliminated the issue with the pad sliding down during rough descents. At first it felt slightly constricting but once I started sweating it loosened up a bit and was snug without cutting off circulation.
