Is this safe? Will it leak electricity?

Use for low voltage low current like no more than 5amps 6 to 12 volts

Can they be used to make potato battery and lemon battery for child?

Yes, they can easily clip on to the nose or earlobe.

What is the wire gauge? (AWG?)

Contrary to what the other guy said, these are 100% not 18 AWG. The voltage drop @ 0.5A across one of these leads is 0.3V, or 0.6 ohms of resistance. This seemed awfully high so I made a loop out of all 10 of them and got 5.5 ohms of resistance, which works out to 300 ohms per 1000 ft, making this approximately 35 gauge copper wire or a slightly lower gauge of CCA, unsure which. These will not handle any significant amount of current.
