solid, only issue the O ring leaked, had no silicone lube, no instructions, (as if I needed it). Made my own holding plate and the undersized screws cracked the plastic on the lid, hum....so ordered other o rings and silicone lube and managed to have it work.

The first filter housing I got, came with a broken “O” ring that had a permanent bend where it had been trapped in the housing. I returned the whole unit. The replacement came with an intact “O” ring. I put silicone grease on the “O” ring to make sure it didn’t tear. I could not tighten the housing enough to prevent leaks. I opened the housing to see the “O” ring broken. I had a competitor’s filter in my water system for years without issue. This manufacturer clearly has a run of inferior “O” rings.

Keep in mind this does not come with a mounting bracket or screws, and it will be heavy enough you wouldn't want to rely on your pipes (especially if pvc) to carry the weight of it. Even with copper pipes it would be a bad idea to put that kind of stress on the pipes when you're cranking on the filter housing to change out the filter. There are really no instructions or hardware, but you'll need 5/16 x 1 1/4" lag bolts to go into the 4 mounting posts at the top of the black housing body. This size lag is not typically carried at home depot, so if you can't find it go with 1", if you go bigger and use 1 1/2" you'll go too deep and crack or penetrate the underside. My only complaint about this is that the housing body has 1 1/2" NPT threads (be sure you use both tape and pipe dope), but the inlet/outlet on the underside where the filter sits does not look equal (different shape, not round) in area to that pipe size, so there may be some flow restrictions. If that is important to you, you might want to look at a 2" filter system instead.
