Excellent all around item
For several seasons I struggled with 2 hands to turn the handle from backwash to rinse and back. On start-up this spring the main shaft snapped at the O-ring groove, I purchased the replacement which was delivered the next day. Before assembly, I coated the shaft , O-rings and cover plate-shaft hole generously with Bees wax paste which is not water soluble With a piece of wood and 2 clamps. I compressed the cover-plate spring enough to insert the handle steel pin. After assembly and start up, the ease of handle movement was significant. NOTE: i used the original O-rings which showed not damage . Be carefully removing to re-use and apply ample wax.

Installation Succesful
The right product for my Sand Filter. Before removing the old one make sure to take a picture to install the new one in the same ocation, i.e. the holes at the same place. You need to be individual to press on the top of the valve while the other pushes the metal pin ouot of the handle.

Water was coming out of the backwash port, while positioned in the filter position. This part fixed that issue. You can find some good video instructions online to make the job easier of replacing this part. Start to finish was about 30 minutes.

Hayward SP714 key seal assembly
This is a great replacement after I broke mine. It should take a bit of effort to assemble it. I have to use two C-clamp to hold down the spring to push the pin in place. Afterall it is a great purchase, instead of buying the whole valve, which is 5 times more expensive.

As described
Totally as described, good value, not that hard to install, needed four hands though. I should have bought the whole valve head as the filter still leaks through the waste hose. I ended up installing an on/off valve which stopped the leaking.
