We are not allowed to do whatever we like or we feel, including touching the students in any way, climbing on tables or keep them after the class. The strategies work and are very respectful, leaving out punishment and rewards in order to focus instead in encouragement. These strategies help children develop many life skills and become responsible confident and capable problem solvers. This is my favourite positive discipline book for teachers and I love how the information is organised because it is easy to find it in the book and it makes the book easy to read. It is a fantastic book to read and have as a valuable reference to use when in need. If you follow the advice in this book you'll create a cooperative, friendly and supportive atmosphere in your classroom.

Mostly for young children
I was hoping to get ideas for my difficult class of teenagers. However, I have a group problem and the book is mostly aimed at individual students. Moreover, I only meet them 2 times per week (45-minute-periods) and I don't think there is physical time to try to apply the strategies suggested in the book. Plus, there are so many ideas which we can't apply in public schools in Europe, at least in Switzerland. We are not allowed to do whatever we like or we feel, including touching the students in any way, climbing on tables or keep them after the class.

Consejos que si funcionan
Muy buen libro y con muchos consejos que me gustaría poner en práctica Ya! Intente lo que aconsejaron para que un niño se pusiera a trabajar y funciónó! Muy satisfecha con mi compra. CON: me gustaría que explicará más la herramienta en cuestión a que te la quiera explicar con los ejemplos de como otros la usaron. Pero fuera de eso todo excelente.

Practical and Sensible Tools for Teachers
I just received my copies of the Positive Discipline Tools for Teachers, and I must say this is my new favorite Positive Discipline book! I love the format of describing the tool, giving real examples of its use, and then sharing the research that backs it up. It is easy to read for busy educators and provides a helpful script, moving the common sense idea to practical application. A must read for every person working in schools!
This book is filled with practical tools, specific in school examples of the tools being used, and research supporting each one. Each Positive Discipline principle is clearly explained, and the tools are laid out in a way that they are easy to implement. It will help a school staff teach social-emotional skills to students, so they are more engaged, responsible, can solve problems and contribute to the class and school community. It is well written, and a must have for every person working in schools. This would make a great gift for any teacher!
