I have three Winix air purifiers that use the H filter. Bought this brand a few days ago, and they seemed fine, so bought another box. Also bought a pair of a different brand because they raised the price of these. You can’t tell which brand is which because the only difference is a little sticker on the box with a barcode and some tiny writing.The contents of the boxes are identical, so going with the cheapest was the right thing to do.I have installed 3 of the 6 filters I bought.The charcoal filters all seem to have more charcoal in them than the originals. They are dusty and will get your hands black. Either rinse them in the shower to get that off or vacuum then with a good vacuum that has a HEPA filter. Guess you could just do it outdoors.The white HEPA filter has a very slight odor when opened, but after 10 minutes In the machine I don’t smell it anymore.The only issue is that the HEPA filter is about 3/8” shorter. I am going to put a piece of foam weatherstripping on it to seal that gap, as a friend just gave me two rolls of that stuff. Overall, for the cost savings, I am happy with them.On a side note, my older Winix 5500-2 had a higher quality original filter than the newer model AM80. The AM80 ones are similar in construction to these, but the older machine had a bit more rigid filter with clearer writing of the Model number and different colored pull tabs.

You get a lot for your money and the little cleaning brush is a big help.

have purchased this filter a few times now and it works as well as the name brand for our Winix at far less the cost. And I have to say that since the last time I bought a winex, the quality as with a ton of products now is less... this is probably a tad better even.. so if your on the fence, try it.. fixed income doesn't go as far today and this is cheaper and it works as well.. :-)

So far everything fits well and it has more carbon inside than the oem. We'll see how it filters.One day ill make a filter test box.

Filter Replacement Compatible with Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier

So I've been using random off brand and on brand filters for my 5500-2 for a few years now, and all of them came with this coarse sponge-like "charcoal filter". This thing is like.... A beast. When I first lifted up the package I was so confused by the weight, because of this massive, plastic honeycomb filled with activated activated charcoal granules and covered in mesh. No flimsy sponge filter here. And for the price, it's comparable to the other filters I was getting that didn't have this beast of a carbon filter. How effective is it? To be frank I don't have the equipment to measure odors and volatile organic compounds. However I will say that it is much more confidence inspiring than the random foam that doesn't look like it has any of the actual properties of activated charcoal.What I will say is, that the "washable" aspect of the filter seems a little bogus. You might be able to was the mesh off of dust and other large debris, but I don't think there's any easy way to restore activated carbon to it's VOC and odor absorbing state that is readily available to consumers. And certainly a quick rinse won't help, and if you're using tap water it might do more harm than good.Overall, 5 stars for an effective looking HEPA filter and a carbon filter that looks like it'd be used as a prop for a lab I'm a science fiction movie. I can't give actual particulate counts to explain the effectiveness of the filter, but I can say I sneeze less and my allergies are less severe with it running in the same room.
