The purpose of this Hands Free Service Dog Leash is to have the dog work with you and adapt to your body movements. The dog learns to be attached to you and anticipate what you are doing and the direction it should move with you. I have used and trained with this style leash for over ten years and have found it to be the fastest way to teach a dog to stay with what I am doing and work with me. This is the leash I always use to take a dog out in public. It is so functional and versatile I would not be without it. One of the benefits of this leash is that it gives you free movement of both your hands. You can work attached to the dog and at the same time move independently from the dog. It is much easier to push a shopping cart, open doors, or pick up objects when you have both hands free. When you are using this lead you will direct the dog with your legs and body movements as much as touching the leash. The lead rests across your shoulder and wraps under your arm and stays close to you so you have quick access to the leash. It is adjustable with different rings that are set into the leash. This is so that the dog can be placed at different lengths away from the handler. And it gives the dog freedom to stop and lay down and rest when the lead is set on the closest snap ring.

Awesome leash! Awesome company!
I love this leash! I have a service dog and have used a regular leash in the past. I also use a cane. So when I shop I have to juggle everything. My dog is obviously well trained but must be on a leash in public. This leash goes cross body and has different rings to attach to. My hands are free to shop, push the cart and my dog just walks next to me and when we stop he lays down and I never need to worry. In the picture he is just laying down while I am in check out line. I can attach it to his collar or vest. It is well made, looks nice and has an embroidered Service Dog logo. I like the fact this is a family owned business. Customer service reached out immediately to make sure I received my order, had no problems with it and offered a discount on future purchases from Active Dog. Can’t ask for any better shopping experience than that!

Great hands free leash for service dogs (or any dog)!
I've been a dog trainer for 18 years, and I've used hands free leashes in the past but always ones that went around my waist or clipped to a belt. I tried this leash recently with a new service dog in training. Wow, did it make walking and moving my arms freely so much better! I love that there were numerous clips that allow me to give the dog more distance or keep the dog at a closer range. The leash is light weight and comfortable but looks well made. I won't use another leash again.

The Best Hands-free leash I've Ever Tried
This leash is honestly the easiest and best hands-free leash I've tried. I have a service dog who does not have a leash free heel and still needs a gentile leader that I have to hold near my hip for her to keep a focused heel. I've tried several solutions to make things easier, because she also has a mobility handle and sometimes it can be exceptionally hard to hold the leash and handle, and also do things like open doors. The solution I had before this was a short leash that was attached to a quick release belt. It didn't work well, mostly because even though it would generally keep her heeling, it would also cause huge problems when we had reached our destination and she had to move in some way other than a heel (for example, she is trained to walk in front of me in very tight spaces, and she couldn't while she was attached the the belt. It would also be bulky and hard to get settled when sitting down in certain chairs or desks). This leash has made everything so much easier. One of the best functions I have found is the fact that it has several rings to adjust her heel. When we set off to walk, in about one second and with ease, I can clip the leash to be shorter so she can keep her heel, and the moment we arrive at our destination or need her to move differently, I can unclip the ring so its still around my body but much longer, giving her room to maneuver however she needs to.The leash itself seems to be well made, and there is a nice leash wrap that says "service dog" near the bottom which helps with visibility a little bit. The rings and attachments seem solid and well made/attached. I highly recommend this leash!

Great clasps
I’m 5”2 ( chubby) and my dog is small and short at 17 pounds.I purchased the 7.5 feet model. Here’s a few things I love about the leash :* The clasps are heavy duty and seem extra sturdy. I’ve bought several leashes and clasps failures is a problem. So, far this one seems great.* Nice weight to this leash. Also, the nylon webbing is not flimsy …it’s quite substantial.* I love the large loop you can make that can either be slung across body or held in hand.Quibbles:.* Ring placement is not the best. I feel there should be rings higher up , so I can reduce the size of the body loop.* Because of ring placement you can’t really make a comfortable handle … you can make ax small loop but it’s not really a handle. Now my thoughts and actions around this leash :I cut the “ service “ dog patch off.I wish it came in more colors or was reflective.Overall , it’s a nice leash with high quality clasps ! Ring placement could be better. I’m enjoying the hands free mode !

A bit short of you are tall
Love the design. But I'm 6', dog is 24" and attaching to the harness front loop pulls the leash hard into my shoulder which is painful. if he lays down I have to bend over or do a header. Not ideal with a service dog as mine is taught to lay down when we stop moving for some time. Slightly better on the top ring of a harness but laying down still takes me down. This is with the 7.5' leash extended as far as it can go. So I added a 2 foot leash extender. Suggest this be made in a 9.5' version...as I am not huge tall at just 6'. Great design overall just not long enough for a not so unusual combo of handler and dog height.
