Inspired
A poignant story, unique in its crafted blending of mythology and the stark realities of life on a small Caribbean island, where the past and the present collide in a memorable tale.

Marvelous language and imagination
A curse, a mermaid, heart connection and an eternity of loneliness. Hard to go wrong such heavy hitting themes. Beautiful language. I really enjoyed it.

A real catch indeed
I've been waiting for another Monique Roffey book for a few years that I would love as much as I loved "White Woman on a Green Bicycle." This one did not disappoint. I read it in one sitting, spell bound by the beautiful bond between the two lovers. Roffey captures the magical lyricism of the Caribbean dialect, the paradoxical relationship between man and nature - love, awe, and respect. Man never wins.Spell binding. Enchanting. Captivating. It was music to my ears. Poetry for my soul. Thank you Ms Roffey for a trip back home to the Caribbean.
