Q: Why would this not fit 1/2" thick doors?

This item will fit door 3/4" - 1 3/8" thick doors.

Q: will there be a larger gap between 3/4" doors vs 1-3/8" doors?

There shouldn't bee any difference in the gap regardless of the door width.

Q: Sorry im confused, does the track go on top of the door or bottom of door...or both?

The track is attached to the surface above the doors. The wheels hang from the track and attach to the top of each door. A guide that can be attached to the floor is included, that keeps the doors in line when opening and closing.

2 doors. But make sure you use matching sliders there are 2 of each offset
