It comes with a sponge to apply. However, I put mine in a small container and crush it then use a makeup brush to apply. No residue to make my hair greasy. It also stays put for a couple of days. I have noticed that after 3 days that I need to touch it up. And that's another thing, it acts like dry shampoo. I recently had gastric bypass and have lost quite a bit of hair. Although it's listed as a root touch up I use it right on my scalp and it doesn't give me any irritation. It does bleed through when you do sweat. But it is easy washes out on clothes and if you get it on your hands. That is probably the only downfall. I personally don't like seeing right down to my scalp when I part my hair so this product is awesome and it matches my burgundy hair color perfectly. Great product highly recommend

Works very well. Shipping was very fast. Applicator is easy to use. The color stays put even if styling after putting it on. Blends well. Does not streak or bleed through. It doesnt take a lot of time to use but if you are careful and patient while putting it on, it looks very natural. I am grateful I found this product. Other products I tried were not as easy to use, had an overspray effect and didn't blend well enough to look natural. This company knows what it is doing. I would't hesitate to recommemd it to anyone trying to address thinnimg hair. I wish I had foumd it sooner.

This product works great. It covers my gray in between touch ups. It's very easy to apply and it doesn't come off if you touch your head or on your pillow. I have purchased this product several times.

Thirteen years ago I bought the very costly original root-covering powder product like this and its companion brush applicator. Guess what! I am STILL using it! Great value for the money. But I'm almost out of it, so I thought I'd try this because the reviews are so good. And it is a good product. Blends nicely, doesn't rub off, matches my color. But the poorly-designed foam applicator is awkward to handle. Doesn't maneuver as nicely as a brush and doesn't allow for detailed areas like my widow's peak and around my temples and ears. I have been using my old brush applicator instead. I am also concerned that there isn't really very much product in the container. My guess? Deep container, shallow pan of product. We'll see...
