Fastest shipment great cane
I got my cane the day before the earliest shipment date listed, good job. The wood is very nice, looks like and has the weight of ash. It's long enough to be used as a short staff but a bit thin. Cut off a little of the bottom and it makes a lovely and comfortable cane. Add a tip and you can pass all of those NO WEAPONS signs with your Chinese folk art cane. That gives you the key to winning any confrontation with only a cane. Have weapon in hand, go first, go often, and don't let the goons see it coming. It did come with a goofy logo but that didn't even need soap and water to get off, just spit and elbow grease.

Super!
Works great as a cane. Appropriate for self defense.

Better craftsmanship needed
Nice look, handle too thick. Also, handle was unglued/unattached to cane.

Handle needs to be secured
I use this cane for Shaolin Kung Fu forms. It is a good cane but has a major flaw in that the handle comes loose and can fly off and injure someone. I still gave it 4 stars because this can be fixed by re-gluing with a good glue and carefully (so the wood doesn't split or crack) placing a couple of small nails through the handle into the shaft. My shifu suggested for added security you could probably drill a small hole through the top of the handle into the shaft and put a screw in. I did not do this yet, maybe I will if I am going to use this for demonstrations. I wouldn't want to take chances on the handle flying off into a crowd of spectators. You can probably get a good glue at home depot, your local hardware store, or on Amazon. See picture of small nail through shaft into the handle.

Very pleased!
I bought this directly from Martial Arts Mart, but I thought this would be the place to write a review. I purchased the weapons pack which included this cane, tonfa and the DVD on the weapons, plus a wooden Tanto knife.First, lets talk packaging. They taped two UPS boxes together to accommodate for the length of the cane. A little scarey when you see the package arrive at your door. The tape was starting to come apart, so I wondered about the material inside. I found the cane carefully wrapped in bubble pack, looking good. All products arrived in great shape.According to the girl that answers the phone, the cane is made out of ash. After looking it over, I weighed it; 21 1/2 oz. according to my postal scale. The site states the cane is 42"long, with a 6" handle and that's what mine is. The color is a lighter color than the picture tho. No complaints here. Any Shaolin monk would be proud to have this in his hand. There was a shipping error on the website, but after calling them they gave me a credit for the difference in price. How's that for service after sale! After getting my first order from them, I would not hesitate to buy from them again.
