good start for lightening your load
I have generally carried everything I thought I might need on long or short day hikes. This has worked for the last 20 years or so but as I am now in my 60's I decided to go a little lighter. This pack is the foundation my new approach. My wife and I hike mostly in Mount Rainier National Park and return home every evening after the hike. We often hike 10+ miles and ascend 3,500-4,000 feet. This pack has performed as reported in "Backpacker". Now that I am focusing on the 10 essentials and supplies for the hike I find that this pack accommodates everything I need very well. I appreciate the number of options for storage and, of course, the compartment for the hydration pack (with internal hook). The water resistance is a nice feature and something I've expected to become available for some time. I can honestly say that I am sometimes not aware that I have a pack on. It has been very comfortable with minor adjustments and there are plenty of other straps I could adjust if I needed to. I have retained my larger pack in case I need more gear but may not use it. I could not be happier with this pack.

Awesome bag for hiking, very lightweight and comfy, big room to pack snacks, price is right (expensive) but totally worthy. We enjoyed it a lot
