Heavy and quite cumbersome
I dislike this product because it is quite heavy, so when trying to use it for pruning rosehip in particular, it is quite a strain on the wrist and also difficult to aim for your target! It is very easy to topple off of balance when on the ladder reaching high... Thankfully the thorns of the rose Bush held me whilst I regained balance!Life can be a bed of roses!! I should have got ones that had a hand mechanism...

Strong, substantial bit of kit
Used these loppers straight away on some pretty thick, green branches on a tree which overhangs my garden fence. I prefer that they don't have a telescopic handle, and they are of a medium weight. What this means in reality is that while they don't require huge amounts of lifting power and can be maneuvered with relative ease, they aren't lightweight. They cut through anything garden related with ease and the anvil cutting end is a clincher - makes cutting through thicker branches much easier with less human force required!

Very sharp and strong
After breaking two other pairs (both bypass type, one with mechanical advantage, the other without, neither were S & J), Dad suggested I get a standard set of Spear & Jackson's.They are pretty lightweight, the grips fit the hands well and haven't bruised them like one of the other loppers did. I have cut far thicker than the advised max diameter by "slicing" at the branches. I didn't go for extendable handles as the handles would open far too much for me to be able to reach both grips. The cut is very clean and the blades don't twist apart towards the end of the cut.Incredibly pleased with them and wish I'd bought them sooner.

Slice through like butter
I am an older lady with weak wrists and these loppers are just brilliant. Slice through thick woody holly stems with ease.
