Will this make a good gift for A teenage girl?

it will be a great gift for a tenage boy but i think it is a bit to manly for a girl but it will take a loot of punishment no matter who has it it is a great bag

ON ALL THE POCKETS. the closure. does it work like a belt, or are there snaps underth it, and the belt buckle is just for show?

Although I do not use this bag due to it having a bad odor, the closures are like belt buckles and not snaps.

For a short trip of three days, will this bag be good or the 20" or the 18" version of this bag?

If you are looking for this to be a weekender type of bag, I would go with the largest one. The 16" is a good size for a day or two

Is the leather a dark brown or light?

Since its a handmade item, the color may not be precisely as described, The color will be brown (towards dark) that shall grow darker with usage (as dark as cherrywood). You can keep it sun for a day and it will grow darker very quickly.
