Learn How to Knit with 50 Squares: For Beginners and Up, a Unique Approach to Learning to Knit (Knit & Crochet Blocks & Squares)

I borrowed Learn How to Knit with 50 Squares from the library and had to purchase my own copy. It is beautiful in every way. The photos of the finished squares make you want to knit every single one and with the well written instructions and graphs for all the squares you can easily do it. I could knit before I bought the book but it has definately upped my skills. I had never tried to knit a textured panel design like the Moss Heart pattern on pages 50 and 51 but it was quite easy using the detailed instructions. I have knitted five different squares from the book so far.

Prior to this, I had only knitted a few baby beanies. I was able to knit all of these patterns successfully except for 1. I put together a blanket by the end with a handful of duplicate patterns. For a newbie, it turned out pretty good!

Great book with a good plan on learning to k it. I supplement the instructions with YouTube videos if I need more assistance. Very glad I made this purchase.

Best: clearly written and easy to follow patterns & instrctions. Good book for those looking to progress from one skill level to the next, or simply hone their sills.Least: I would prefer spiral binding inside the cover which would allow book to lie flat when open.

I have been knitting away with this book and excited about learning new patterns. It explains everything from reading charts with easy to follow directions. Finally a book on knitting granny squares rather than crotcheting them. It is also a way of using up the small balls of yarn that you have in your stash.

One of the reasons I bought this book is because of the consistently high reviews it received but I have to think some of those are not real or arranged. The pictures of the stitches are interesting but the instructions are NOT as clear as they could be and for a beginner, they are hard to follow. I suspect English is not the author's first language and/or there was a translator involved who is not a knitter. In any case, this may be a great book for someone who already knows how to knit but if you're a beginner, be prepared to get help from YouTube if you want to understand how to knit these stitches.

I like the variety of patterns and clear photography of this book. But the potential reader needs to know that there aren't line by line written instructions for each square. You have some lines written out of the technique required in the square but you need to read the charts to complete the full square. It does include a chart on page 9 so you can learn from the book to do that.

I've been knitting for over 35 yrs and bought this for some new square patterns. Lots of new patterns in this book. I am very pleased with how well it is put together. I would suggest this book to friends if they were looking for square patterns.

It's a bit difficult to follow along for very new beginners. The instructions are not always clear, even for the basics ie: casting on and binding off. Maybe better for someone not just starting out with no prior experience.

Did not like the book, and when i asked for a return slip found out I had to pay postage. Thought when i purchased two items well over the 35.00 WHICH BOTH ITEMS SAID. Not very pleased.

I purchased this for my mom to help keep her hands busy after quitting smoking. She absolutely loves it and says it's easy for her to follow and she can't wait to make something!

Excellent book,very well written and the images are very easy to interpret. I highly recommend it.
