Yes, it IS worth the money ~ High quality and works well!
This thread holder is extremely sturdy and works exactly as the product description says it will. I had been using another type of thread holder, and every so often the thread would escape the guide and cause terrible tension problems (huge tangled loops) in the middle of my quilt piecing. It is not possible for that to happen with this one due to the closed thread guides. It also has gripper feet that hold it quite securely in place, and the thread feeds very evenly off of my 3280-yard cone of thread. I prefer thread that is somewhat expensive, and I am able to save a little by purchasing it on the larger spool (also, I don't run out of thread as fast!). I have this thread holder located to the right of my sewing machine and its footprint is quite small compared to the one I had been using. I hesitated to purchase this item because it seemed a bit pricey, but I am glad that I did as it has solved my thread problems. From now on I will be purchasing the larger cones and will no longer have to worry about difficulties getting it to feed correctly. Not only that, but it will be easier to use specialty threads (such as metallics and ribbons) as well. The explanatory videos were very helpful; if you are still undecided, you might want to check them out. This was a good purchase and I am very happy that I made it. I recommend it highly. By the way, I also recommend Superior Threads, which I purchase online and have found to be extremely satisfactory! UPDATE 03/08/2018: I have been continuing to use this thread stand for my main sewing machine & it has continued to work perfectly. However, I recently purchased a little "vintage" embroidery machine & took this thread stand away from my main sewing machine to use with my embroidery machine. It feeds the embroidery thread very smoothly and evenly & works much better than putting the embroidery thread cones on the thread spool. I am thrilled because so far the embroidery has been flawless! So now I am back to purchase a second thread holder so that I can use both machines at the same time. Once again it seems "pricey" to me, but--remembering the negative experiences with the less expensive thread holders--I am going to go ahead and purchase another one! Still highly recommended. UPDATE 4/15/2018: Currently using this on my Bernina 1230 and Bernina Deco 650. Today I am ordering a THIRD one to use on my new (to me) Singer Featherweight 221K, so that all three machines can be set up at once and I don't have to keep switching among the three machines.

Works great.
Even feed, doesn’t get caught and tall enough to reach over machine.

Cheaper than the local sewing store.
Great for holding threads.

Light weight, the bobbin holder is a joke and it can catch on thread sometimes
I wanted to try this holder for a long time and finally bought it. Overall it is a great thread holder that allows to use all kinds and sizes of different spools and cones. The big metal pin that holds a spool or cone can be placed in 2 different positions, vertical and horizontal, there is an additional hole in the body of the stand that you can screw the pin into to place it horizontally. I like the fact that this thread holder is super universal and versatile so you can use any possible spools or cones. You can place the stand itself vertically or lay it down horizontally. It has tiny nonslip legs on the side that will let it sit on the table if you want to use it in horizontal position. I took one star off because this item is very light weight and little plastic pin that is supposed to hold a bobbin is very weak. That plastic pin is so flimsy that it broke when i took it out of package and tried to put it in the hole where it supposed to sit. I'm not sure why someone whould want to feed thread from a boobin but well..) if you ever need it its there. Not having it doesn't feel like a big loss for me, but the fact it broke the moment i inserted it the first time just stinks. Honestly i can use any pin that fits in the hole for that purpose if I ever need it. But i probably won't ever need that feature. If they wanted to offer a feature to feed the thread from the bobbin, why not to make the pin for a bobbin out of metal just like the bigger pin for spools and cones? I do not understand this. It's like they are saying, yeah, you could have this... let you smell without letting you to taste.. One more thing. The wire circle on the end of the wire part where you put the thread through constructed the way that it might catch the thread. I do not like that fact at all! I have to move it around to find a position where it would not catch the thread. If this thread holder was heavy, the small pin was metal and the wire thingy was constructed better, we whould have a winner. But it is not perfect, even though a brilliant idea. With all these flaws its not worth its $20.

I love that this stand has the extra pin for using bobbins as a top thread source... It was easy to assemble and is exactly the right height for my Bernina 770. I'm passing along 4 other thread stands because this one is perfect for my studio.

Great Qulity and I use this thread holder every day with my large spools of thread.

I like that the stand has many different kind of ways to hold different kind of spool but it is a little to light. Everytime my machine cuts the tread and pulls fast on the thread the stand wiggles a lot or even tips over.

Too light to hold large cones of thread but stablize the holder to thetable
